About us

Contra Costa Electric offers total electrical construction, engineering, and facilities and energy services throughout California. We offer comprehensive electrical preconstruction and construction services, including electrical systems design, alternative energy and energy management systems, technology services, and facilities maintenance services. We are comprised of distinct departments, each committed to providing the same consistent, high-quality service in their respective areas—from electrical systems design to innovative energy solutions. The departments support each other on cross-sector electrical projects, such as structured cabling and renewable energy systems projects where more than one service is required. By offering seamless high/low voltage, facilities, and energy solutions, we eliminate the need to coordinate multiple vendors, enabling more efficient project delivery and improving cost control. Our extensive industry experience also allows us to adapt to the ever-changing regulatory environment and make fast changes required by shifts on project schedules or cost considerations. We hold the prestigious ISO 9001:2015 certification and employ Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accredited staff. Our LEED accredited experts can help clients achieve demanding green building objectives, including guiding and supporting green design, integrating systems and sub-systems to LEED standards, and expediting the LEED application and certification process.

  • We would like to recognize Danny Coppa and Eze Stewartz who have shown their commitment to continuous education and improvement by completing EMCOR University training courses over the past several months. Danny, a Virtual Design and Construction Coordinator, took several goal-setting courses that have helped him develop new techniques, such as creating a written daily plan, and following through on work related goals. Eze, a Project Assistant, took Excel courses that covered some of the software's advanced features that are applicable to his work. He also took several classes on negotiations which he believes will pave the way for better collaboration with his peers. EMCOR University courses are open to all CCE employees and are self-paced and instructor-led. There are more than 39,000 classes covering a broad spectrum of content, from information technology to sales to leadership training, professional certifications, and much more. #EMCOR #Congratulations #ContinousImprovement #EmployeeDevelopment

  • We'd like to spotlight the work of Jessica Cavillo, one of the incredible Quality Control Specialists at our Bakersfield office! Jessica has been a part of our team for almost two years. She previously worked in the aerospace industry where she built valuable skills as a quality inspector and fabricator. At CCE, Jessica has been working on a multi-year project converting a former petroleum refinery into a renewable energy plant. When completed, the facility will produce diesel fuel from cooking oil, soybean oil, and other raw materials. The extensive electrical scope has required more than 28,000 hours of labor power. As Quality Control Specialist, Jessica is helping the project save time, minimize waste, and improve safety. Jessica is detail-oriented and committed to quality. She reviews drawings with incredible accuracy and works hard to guide projects smoothly from start to finish. Jessica says that she enjoys the collaborative work environment at CCE, where teamwork has always been key to project success. We're glad to have her on the team! Our company is built on the dedication of our outstanding employees. #EMCOR #Team #EmployeeAppreciation #ProjectManager

  • Contra Costa Electric just completed the first phase of a two-phase parallel switchgear project by replacing two 70-year-old transformers with two new ones at a leading medical center in Northern California. The new 12kv 460 transformers will add to the building's electrical infrastructure and allow the hospital to expand. For phase one, parallel circuits were used to create multiple paths of electricity. This redundancy, or duplication, helped ensure that the hospital remained safely operational when the upgrade was being performed. Contra Costa’s crew refined the steps in phase one to help improve efficiency. For example, the initial plan called for four shutdowns to install two transformers during the cutover (the time when the system transitioned from the old power source to the new one). The four shutdowns would have added more time and additional cost to the job. We were able to limit the project to two shutdowns (one per transformer), with thoughtful planning and an intricate design that used two backup generators to supply power while the new transformers were being energized. Keeping the electricity on 24/7 during the shutdowns was critical. It helped ensure, for example, that one freezer remained at a chilly minus 80 degrees for testing while also reducing the impact on other critical electrical needs at the facility's school of medicine. #EMCOR #Electrical #Transformers #HealthcareIndustry #ElectricalContracting

  • Our Bakersfield staff received DiSC training from Andria Shafer, Training and Development Specialist (on the right) and Katie Jimenez, Human Resources Manager. DiSC is a personal assessment tool. There are four DiSC types: •Dominance (D): These individuals are confident and results oriented. They tend to be bold, skeptical, and focused on winning. •Influence (I): These people are open and emphasize relationships. They are typically outgoing, enthusiastic, and optimistic. •Steadiness (S): Those with this trait are dependable and value cooperation. They are often calm, patient, and excel at providing support. •Conscientiousness (C): This type emphasizes quality, accuracy, and expertise. They are meticulous and driven by logic and objective analysis. DiSC is used to enhance teamwork, help leaders recognize their unique behavioral tendencies, and improve overall work dynamics among employees company wide. #EMCOR #Team #Teamwork #EmployeeDevelopment #DiSC

  • We would like to acknowledge Jesse Gonzales, a long-standing Contra Costa employee, for his perfect safety record over the past 22 years with the company! As a voltage technical foreman, Jesse has worked on new builds and completed building rehabilitation projects at a well-respected hospital in the Fresno area. Jesse attributes his perfect safety record to his extensive training. On a daily basis, he adopts effective practices, such as following area-specific rules, doing regular inspections, keeping a tidy work area, and having controls in place for tools, materials, work areas, and documents. At Contra Costa, helping to ensure worker safety is always a top priority. Some highlights of our employee safety initiatives include: -In-person onboarding for company safety policies and procedures for every new hire, on their first day of employment -Weekly safety newsletter (VOLT) including safety topics/sign-off that is reviewed on each job site as a mandatory training topic -Virtual safety training through a custom online portal -In-person training for site-specific requirements such as excavation, safe equipment use, and confined space We are also a wholly owned subsidiary of EMCOR, a Diamond partner with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP). #EMCOR #Safety #SafetyCulture #ElectricalSafety #EmployeeAppreciation

We helped sponsor Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa's annual "Drive Out Hunger Event," Golf Tournament. Proceeds will help support the nonprofit's commitment to provide 4,000 hot meals per day to individuals across the county. Our own Kyle Church and Leo Cid participated, alongside their guests Chris Jones and Richard Fischer from PBF Energy. Loaves and Fishes volunteers serve over 251,000 meals and distribute over two hundred tons of groceries each fiscal year. Hot meals are delivered each day to five Contra Costa cities: Antioch, Oakley, Pittsburg, Martinez, and Walnut Creek. We are based in Martinez and always take pride in being able to support organizations that give back to our community. • We recently had a demo for a new state-of-the-art mobile wire-pulling tool at our Martinez office, with a livestream for our Fresno and Bakersfield offices. The tool is designed for easy setup and placement, which means we'll be able to use it on projects across Northern and Southern California. Here is our Superintendent Jess Padilla, and Will Porter, a representative from iTools, who helped us conduct the demo. #EMCOR #Electric #Wire #Construction #Innovation
