The Consulates General of France in Los Angeles and San Francisco, together with Villa Albertine, recently hosted an inspiring French Dual Language Immersion Seminar in Glendale. A huge thank you to our incredible speakers, especially Lois Simpson and Schubach Carolyn from Utah, for sharing their insights! We're also grateful to Nancy Hong and the Glendale Unified School District for helping us organize this event, as well as to Valerie Sun, Principal at Garvey School District, Blake Ramsey, French DLI expert, and Nathalie Forestier Lainé, International Relations Officer at DRAREIC. During these two days, participants from across California came together to exchange ideas and learn new strategies for developing and strengthening French DLI programs, furthering the French for All movement. There’s more French influence in Napa and Sonoma than just vineyards! 🇫🇷 Pellenc Group plays a key role, supplying half of the U.S. market with its grape harvesting machines. Meanwhile, Laura Chenel brought French expertise to the region by introducing French-style goat cheese in the 1970s. Sarmentine - Artisan Boulanger, a traditional French bakery founded by French artisans, is also growing rapidly!

🍇 From vineyards to cellars, France excels in both expertise and equipment essential to crafting wines across North America, starting with Napa and Sonoma. Following his visit to Oregon winemakers last week, Consul General Florian Cardinaux met with the French artisans shaping California’s wine culture.

The Napa Valley region is home to over 1,000 French nationals! Santa Rosa is proud to host a vibrant Alliance Française de Santa Rosa and the Santa Rosa French American Charter School, which offers a bilingual educational environment primarily to an American audience. Les start-up françaises championnes du quantique 🇫🇷 Alice & Bob, Quandela, C12, Welinq, Pasqal, Quobly : elles étaient toutes présentes cette semaine à Santa Clara pour Q2B, rendez-vous mondial du quantique. La force des start-up françaises dans le quantique n’est plus à prouver. Le secteur, clé pour la souveraineté et la compétitivité de notre pays, fait d’ailleurs l’objet depuis janvier 2021 d’une stratégie nationale lancée par le Président de la République. Mais concrètement, de quoi parle-t-on ? 🤔 Le principal apport attendu des technologies quantiques réside dans la puissance de calcul : les ordinateurs quantiques permettront de résoudre en un temps record des problèmes jusqu’ici insolubles avec des ordinateurs traditionnels. Les applications et bénéfices des technologies quantiques seront nombreux : elles permettront par exemple d’accélérer drastiquement la recherche médicale et la découverte de nouveaux matériaux ; elles permettront aussi d’apporter de nouvelles fonctionnalités de navigation sans satellite ou encore d’explorer de nouvelles manières de transmettre l’information. French winemakers and grape varieties are thriving in Oregon, thanks to a climate similar to that of Burgundy and the renowned quality of French techniques, barrels, and machinery. Florian Cardinaux met with French winemakers in the Willamette Valley to discuss France’s influence on the region.

Thanks to 1,700 French nationals, four dynamic French schools, and a vibrant Alliance Française, the French language and art de vivre are thriving in Portland, Oregon. 🇫🇷 Stay tuned for more, with a French festival on the horizon!
