🌲 Meet Arey Clark, Conservation Corps North Carolina intern working with NC State Parks! 🌳 Arey has been busy collecting essential data and developing innovative outdoor recreation solutions to improve access to our beautiful natural resources. They've assessed nearly 200 miles of biking, hiking, and equestrian trails across six parks, including the most comprehensive trail system in NC State Parks. 🥾🚴♂️🐴 With their hard work, Arey has developed six formal park overviews, six potential trail project overviews, and seventeen maps using GIS. Plus, they've led six CCNC trail crews and created project instructions, enhancing outdoor recreation for all. Arey said of their experience, "These accomplishments are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to my professional growth and involvement! I am grateful for the multiple possibilities afforded by CCNC and NC State Parks, and I look forward to contributing to future projects and developments for the remainder of my time." Job well done, Arey! Conservation Corps North Carolina

🙌Big congratulations to Conservation Corps North Carolina for wrapping up their inaugural Spring Break Youth Conservation Corps program in Cherokee, NC! 🙌 In collaboration with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI), CCNC Intern Avery Guy and Youth Program Coordinator Jackie Meyer spearheaded a week-long initiative, engaging high schoolers in impactful projects within their community. From invasive species removal to trail maintenance and informative educational sessions led by our National Park Service partners, these students absolutely excelled, and we couldn't be prouder of their achievements over the week! Another shout out goes to the CCNC Botany Interns Peyton Bradley and Atsei Cooper for joining the crew and teaching the them all about native plant species in the Cherokee area. They were a incredible addition to the team and were able to share their passion for conservation with the students! Lastly a huge thank you goes to all the partners who worked together to get this program off the ground, the EBCI Tribal Natural Resources department, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Junaluska Museum, and USDA Forest Service.
