Building Lifelong Financial Relationships - Get Connected, Stay Connected
About us
Connected Credit Union shares profits with members as they are owners/share holders of a financial cooperative. Originally chartered in 1967 as the Maine Teachers Association Credit Union – to serve Educators throughout Maine; changing its name to Maine Education Credit Union in the mid 90’s. In 2005 we acquired Chestnut Community Credit Union thus extending our potential membership base to include all those living or working in Kennebec and Somerset Counties. The Board of Directors voted to change our name to Connected Credit Union in Dec. of 2014. Our assets grew to over $44MM and we served nearly 4,000 members within Maine’s Educational System and our local communities. In 2020, we began a partnership with Winslow Community Federal Credit Union, a strong financial cooperative with whom we share a common culture, providing like services and building security for the members we serve. Our assets have grown to over 100MM and we currently serve over 8400 members with an expanded membership base to include all those living or working in Kennebec, Somerset, Lincoln and Waldo Counties. Your funds with Connected Credit Union are safe and secure. Administered by the NCUA, the Share Insurance Fund insures individual accounts up to $250,000 and a member's interest in all joint accounts combined is insured by up to $250,000.

In 2022, Maine was ranked first in New England for household food insecurity. 1 in 8 Mainers face difficulties finding room in their budgets for food, and with qualifications for government assistance programs like SNAP tightening, more and more people rely on food banks for nutrition. 🧡 Help hunger relief organizations keep up with the demand and feed our neighbors in need today at https://lnkd.in/efRqdAQk #endinghungerchallenge #peoplehelpingpeople

As you may know, our credit union participates in Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger, a hunger relief initiative that helps ensure Mainers in our community and across our state have access to healthy, nutritious meals. In 2023, the Campaign exceeded its $1 million fundraising goal by raising $1.2 million, a portion of which comes from the generous support of our credit union employees, volunteers, vendors, and members. This year, we hope to raise even more! This October, we are joining credit unions throughout Maine in a special fundraising effort—the fifth annual $100,000 Challenge. Collectively, we hope to raise at least $100,000 within the month, but we can’t do it without your help. Every dollar raised by the Campaign will support Good Shepherd Food Bank and local food pantries. These organizations work hard to ensure people living right here in our community have access to sufficient nutritious food. New this year, the Campaign also will be raising money to support a new pilot backpack program for Special Olympics Maine. This innovative initiative will help meet the needs of Special Olympics athletes who are facing food insecurity while also providing them an opportunity to give back to their communities. Please consider making a tax-deductible online donation to the Campaign before October 31. Your support will help ensure local Maine families get the food they need. Stop in to your local Connected Credit Union branch or donate online! 🌟 https://lnkd.in/gQkQrS2c Individual contributors will be listed on the Campaign’s website (with permission, unless they choose to remain anonymous), and businesses contributing more than $250 can have their logos featured on the Contributor’s page. No contribution is too small—even a donation of $1 can help provide two healthy meals to those in need.
