2019 was a milestone year for Compass Project Management. First, our team was selected by Boston University to be the Owner’s Project Manager for their landmark Center for Computing and Data Sciences building. What makes this project special is not only is it the first major teaching center built on the Charles River Campus in over 50 years, this 19-story building also designed to be fossil-fuel free, which includes the construction of 31 geothermal wells going 1,500 feet below-grade. The second major change the same year was when our team joined The Vertex Companies LLC, which resulted in expanding our capabilities and our footprint to provide high quality CM/PM services to clients nationwide. As our team integrated with VERTEX, we worked closely with BU, architect KPMB, and Suffolk Construction. We helped to control design phase risks, keep the project on budget from design to GMP, and developed schedule reports to keep all parties aware of progress during the global pandemic. The building achieved occupancy in December 2022, and on June 2023 the iconic structure has been awarded the prestigious LEED Platinum certification by the US Green Building Council.
