Reliable, affordable child care is oftentimes the number-one barrier for a caregiver looking to return to work. As the early learning sector faces a workforce crisis, Assistant Education Manager Natalie Dragan had a chance to talk with Central Penn Business Journal about our Teacher Training Program. Thanks to the York County Economic Alliance for sharing what they're hearing from businesses and employers in York County, and helping us shine a light on how limited or unreliable child care can impact the economy. We're grateful that Every Child Has Opportunity (ECHO) is investing in initiatives to help the child care sector and improve overall workforce stability — including establishing ECE apprenticeship opportunities for additional providers and programs. https://lnkd.in/gEzqmyvD

Progress toward self-sufficiency requires comprehensive, integrated services. Thank you to First Presbyterian Church for helping us host a Poverty Simulation this month for church members, staff, volunteers, and other community leaders. The experience provided an impactful opportunity to consider the connection between how services are delivered to low-income people, and how people living in poverty receive the support necessary to achieve economic independence.

This time last week, we were hosting volunteers from York County Wellness Courts for United Way of York County and Give Local York's Day of Action! This rock-star team was able to help at Community Progress Council's Community of Hope, sorting through donations, stocking our Clothing Closet, sorting the school uniform inventory to support Hannah Penn K-8, clean up our wellness gardens, and pick up trash around the school grounds. It was great to come together: Their help was incredible and allows us to continue to support the Hannah Penn school, families and neighborhood. Big thank you to the Family First Health Hannah Penn team for coordinating and for their support!

Meet Lina*! After immigrating from the Dominican Republic in 2019, she faced language barriers that made her feel isolated. Everything changed when she found Community of Hope, our family resource center based at Hannah Penn K-8. With support from bilingual team members and through ongoing coaching, she gained essential skills and secured health resources. This summer, she passed her U.S. citizenship test — in English! Lina’s journey highlights the power of community support. Now more confident and connected, she's also inviting others to reach out to Community Progress Council. "CPC has the knowledge and all the support that you need," Lina says. Read her story: https://lnkd.in/ePnxbHW5 * Name has been changed
