Helping individuals experiencing mental health and substance use challenges achieve their unique potential.

About us

At Community Alliance, our sole focus is, and always has been on adults with mental illness. Since 1981, this fact has separated us from more traditional social service agencies and treatment centers in the Omaha area. We are an organization of over 250 dedicated, concerned professionals and volunteers who believe in the potential of recovery for all individuals with a mental illness and we dedicate all our resources to support the journey of each individual we serve. We work to provide programs and opportunities to encourage individuals to develop the strengths and skills to deal with their mental illness or co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorder. Additionally, we serve as an advocate with doctors, social service networks, and throughout the community. We go outside the walls of the hospital and our own facilities to support people in their own neighborhoods and communities, where the strengths and confidences we have helped them develop can be put into practice. We advocate with government and others for greater access to the life-restoring services and needed policy changes that can ease the journey being traveled by so many individuals with mental illness and their families. And we work to help erase the stigma and myths that still surround mental illness and which still serve as roadblocks along the road to recovery.

Access to safe housing and community support can be the key to long-term recovery. Our Residential Rehabilitation program provides supervised support for individuals who need more time and support to recover from an acute episode of mental illness. Community Alliance residences are located in neighborhoods throughout the Omaha area, where participants resume many of the roles and responsibilities associated with the next steps toward independence and recovery, including paying rent, sharing in household tasks and connecting with community resources. Participants enjoy the privacy of their own bedrooms while benefiting from a sense of community. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/gaygfw4F.

September is National Recovery Month, an annual observance to emphasize the importance of behavioral health care, support people who are working toward recovery and champion the dedicated service providers who make recovery possible. At Community Alliance, we serve people holistically so that all aspects of their care, from mental to physical to social well-being, are working together toward sustained wellness. And we serve you with dignity, respect and admiration — because the path to recovery takes courage.

Community Alliance’s Center for Mental Health is intentionally designed to support the journeys of those we serve toward recovery, from its layout and architecture to the artwork adorning its walls — including pieces by Brad Hoefs, a pastor, a painter, a state-certified peer support specialist and someone who has dealt with his own mental health obstacles. Brad met with 11 people we've served to bring their individual stories of recovery to life through expressive, abstract art for our new building. Learn more about his empathetic process and impactful paintings in our latest blog at https://lnkd.in/e4uR83Cy.

Did you know we offer an on-site, full-service pharmacy? It’s one more way we're working to be a comprehensive resource for the people we serve and their families. Pharmacy services at Community Alliance are provided thanks to a partnership with Genoa Healthcare, a company that specializes in working with mental health agencies. Our pharmacy can fill mental health prescriptions, answer insurance questions and dispense medications in packaging that's easier to take. We also accept prescription transfers from other pharmacies. On-site pharmacy services, at our 7150 Arbor Street location, are open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
