Comagine Health Idaho State Director Jenny Lingle joined geriatrician and Idaho Community Board member Megan Dunay to weigh in on the recent opening of Keystone Center for Geriatrics’ Boise clinic. As one of the state’s few independent medical clinics specializing in geriatric care, the new location fills a need. Dr. Dunay told KTVB News Group there aren’t many options aside from hospitals for Idahoans who struggle with geriatric conditions, in part because there aren’t enough providers in the state. “As our population ages, I think it’s going to become more and more of a need,” added Lingle. Understanding the needs of those we serve is crucial to the success of our work. That’s why, as the fourth year of our Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services QIN-QIO contract wrapped up, we reached out to nursing home and industry leaders to get their views on successes, barriers and opportunities for improvement. These structured interviews allowed us to both capture individual perspectives and analyze responses to identify themes. We are already using the findings to inform our current QIN-QIO work in Idaho, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington as well as our plans for the upcoming 13th Statement of Work in Midwest CMS QIN-QIO Region 6, which encompasses Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
