About us
The Coalition for Responsible Community Development (CRCD) is a place-based nonprofit community development corporation in South Los Angeles. Mission & History Our mission is to better sustain, coordinate, and improve local planning, development, and community services that address the needs of low-income and working-class residents and small businesses of South Los Angeles. Our work is rooted in a philosophy of coalition-building and collaboration with residents and other stakeholders to jointly create a lasting impact in the community. We focus on three program areas in conjunction with the development of affordable and permanent supportive housing: - Workforce for Adults and Youth - Housing and Support Services - Entrepreneur and Small Business Services Founded in January 2005 by neighborhood residents and community leaders, our goal is to strengthen the economic vitality of South Los Angeles and improve the quality of life for youth and the community. CRCD received its federal tax-exempt status as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation in December 2005. Fiscal sponsorship and operational support were generously provided by the Los Angeles Conservation Corps through July 2006. Today, CRCD is committed to our mission and moving forward with a dedicated board of directors, advisory board, and staff. CRCD is funded by a combination of grants, earned income, and generous donations.

After years of dedicated service and leadership, Kenta Estrada-Darley has transitioned into the newly established Chief Community Innovations Officer role at the Coalition for Responsible Community Development (CRCD). Since joining us in 2017, Kenta has been instrumental in driving our mission forward, most recently serving as Senior Director for South LA All In. In these roles, Kenta has spearheaded initiatives that have improved the lives of South LA’s most vulnerable community members, including those involved in the child welfare, justice, and homeless systems. His efforts have focused on innovative service delivery models and building strategic partnerships to enhance workforce development and educational opportunities. In his new role as Chief Community Innovations Officer, Kenta will continue to lead the charge on transformative initiatives in the South LA region, particularly overseeing the South LA All In project, a multi-year collaborative effort to address deep-rooted racial and socioeconomic inequities in South Los Angeles. His vision and passion for creating holistic, community-centered solutions make him the perfect fit for this critical new position.
