Everyone at CNC is aware that when hurricanes strike, lives are turned upside down in an instant. Families lose their homes, their belongings, and often their sense of hope. In the aftermath of a devastating storm, hurricane survivors are left struggling to meet even the most basic needs: food, water, shelter, and medical supplies. Milton is forecast to be extremely devastating in an area that has already seen loss and destruction from hurricane Helene. Project CNC will be working with Port City Metal Fabrication, who is in contact with local emergency response workers in Florida, to get supplies to hurricane Milton survivors. We will be collecting items until Monday, October 14. A semi-truck will come to retrieve items on Tuesday, October 15. If you would like to drop off donations, please coordinate with our Brand Manager, Ashlie Anderson, at [email protected] or 251-405-2767. You will be able to drop off items between 8AM and 5PM. You can see a list of requested items in the attached graphic. By donating essential items, you can bring relief, comfort, and hope to families who have lost everything. Thank you for your compassion and your generosity. #HurricaneMilton #Donations

  • Hurricane Milton Blows Up To A Cat-4 Hurricane With 150 mph Winds… Forecast to Inflict Catastrophic Damage in Florida on Wednesday Big Pic: Hurricane Milton has blown up to a cat-4 hurricane with 150 mph winds, and is forecast to strike Florida's Gulf Coast as a major hurricane on Wednesday. Residents on the coast should prepare for catastrophic wind and storm surge damage, with very dangerous hurricane-force winds extending in a path across the Peninsula, to the Atlantic Coast. • Tropical Storm Milton has formed in the SW Gulf of Mexico. The storm is forecast to track northeast and approach the western Florida Coast on Wednesday. Take this storm seriously! The NHC best-track forecast predicts Milton to approach Florida as a cat-2 hurricane with 110 mph winds. We should always prepare for one category higher than forecast, so residents should be ready for a cat-3 hurricane, which can inflict substantial damage to well-constructed buildings. I uploaded a map showing the probability of sustained winds exceeding 50 knots (58 mph). The area of highest wind risk extends from around Clearwater to Venice, including the Tampa/ St Pete metro area. At this wind speed we start seeing widespread tree falls and power outrages, as well as minor damage to many buildings. We should also expect damaging winds to extend through Central Florida to the east coast. This storm just formed this morning, so the models have not had much time yet to ingest storm data. Expect the models to tighten up for both tracking and intensity forecasts over the next 12-24 hours. This area of the coastline is quite prone to storm surge flooding because of the relatively shallow water depth. The NHC has not yet provided surge guidance, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see surge forecasts in the 6 to 10 foot range… possibly higher in bays exposed to onshore winds. We can expect isolated flooding from rainfall as well. Fortunately, Milton is forecast to move through pretty quickly, but the uploaded rainfall map shows a widespread area forecast to receive 4 to 8 inches of rain. - Hurricane Hal Graphics from NHC… satellite image from Tropical Tidbits
