🏚️ Where does your Salesforce Administration live? Personally, I have seen a few different teams house the #Salesforce squad, but most fall outside of the original intent when the CRM spend was made. 🌟 Business or Enterprise Systems: This is where they manage multiple #SaaS products, from ERP to Marketing to CRM. How CRM gets handled here is a matter of what they consider to be the most important. 🌟 Sales and Marketing: The Sales and/or Marketing teams like to use it to drive Sales, but because of Salesforce's nuance, it gets overshadowed by other tools. 🌟 IT/Software Engineering: This is obviously the most technical of the groups, so the focus can (but not always) become about complexity over user experience. 🌟Operations: This is a very broad title, but some operations teams house smaller teams that specialize in internal tools. But for smaller teams, Salesforce can even get handled by HR! 🌟 Salesforce: An entire team of Salesforce Pros (or just one individual) can be hyperfocused, stay abreast of current needs, and also be very good at helping the org meet its intended purpose. They can also have direct communication with end users. 🌟 Some companies even have a CRM Manager or Director. In the former, this person acts more like a Product Manager that is also hands on with the system. I have even seen a company that had a Director of CRM that had little (if any) interaction with the Salesforce team! I have no problem with any of these setups (except for HR! 😉), and have come to find that none are perfect. Salesforce is a cross-functional tool, handling Sales, Marketing, Operations, Support, Finance, Legal, and more. One way to supplement this complexity is with a Product or Project Manager, where impactful initiatives can be developed and driven towards completion. Where does your CRM solution live? ✨ In my latest video in my Salesforce developer study series, I have part 2 of the process that I started yesterday (in video 14). To quickly recap, yesterday we created a #screenflow that collects job application info from a candidate in an #experiencebuilder site. That info was then routed into Salesforce where a custom object named Job Application was created. ✨ In today's continuation, I extended that process using #salesforce #ChangeDataCapture with an #EventRelay to push the job app updates to an #aws #s3 bucket. In a later video, I will write a python script built with a #lambda function that pushes the data to a #dynamodb table. In this video, I created a scaled down version of a much larger project I am working on using External Objects in Salesforce. As powerful as this feature is, it's far underutilized by most companies, even when they have a clear need for it! 🤯 In this example, I link a #dynamodb #database from #AWS to Salesforce to get the #workday ID for a new employee record (among other attributes). In my other larger project, I am using it to handle disparate #marketing data, similar to what #datacloud does for much less of the cost. Nothing can more epitomize management vs leadership thinking than the daily standup. People line up to give updates on their current projects, usually coupled with a combination of blame and excuses. But couldn’t these updates be made asynchronously? And couldn’t they be less aggressive? In my opinion, if you’re going to force people to face the gauntlet every day, why not alternate with a brainstorming session? Pretty much anything can be brainstormed, and new products and ideas can easily be born this way. Save the redundant updates for just a few days a week. Hot take: It’s ok to put logic in a #salesforce #trigger, as long as it’s a simple null or field change check (like for updates) and not a lengthy set of complex branch logic. And test, test, test. #salesforcedeveloper #salesforceapex #apexprogramming
