Electrifying heavy-duty vehicles presents a powerful opportunity to significantly reduce GHG and CO2 emissions in the transport sector. Overcoming the high upfront costs of these vehicles will be key to accelerating their adoption and maximizing environmental benefits. Last month, our Senior Associate of Transportation Decarbonization, Lidiya Kassahun, attended WRI Electric School Bus Initiative's Summit #RoadmapTo100 in Baltimore. They explored key topics like bridging the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) gap, advancing infrastructure, scaling successful deployments, and supporting scale. Our Board member, Dr. Destenie Nock, is the founder of Peoples Energy Analytics, an organization in the running for Emerging Company of the Year as recognized by the Northeast Clean Energy Council (NECEC). Peoples Energy Analytics has developed an algorithm capable of analyzing energy use data from millions of households which provides a unique understanding of the energy challenges of the people living in those homes. In short, their technology allows them to identify specific households at risk of having freezing pipes in the winter or at risk of heat stroke in the summer – BEFORE these issues arise. They will deliver this functionality through a DAaaS platform to electric and gas utilities, as well as to social service programs.
