Clean Crop Technologies, Inc. is honored to be included on TIME’s list of America’s Top #Greentech Companies of 2024! We are thrilled to be part of such a dynamic group of sustainability-focused peers that are building innovative business models to curb greenhouse-gas emissions, displace unsustainable materials, and reduce the demand for nonrenewable natural resources. Our goal is to unlock more food with fewer resources with our Clean Current technology. Clean Current combines electricity and food-grade gasses to create cold plasma to inactivate a broad spectrum of contaminants from seed surfaces in a dry, automated, and residue-free process. Our bold vision is to serve as the new standard first line of defense for seed health globally and to mitigate at least 1 gigaton of GHG emissions from the ag and food space by 2050. https://lnkd.in/gfp3a6G2

Meet Caleb Smith, our 2024 Mechanical Engineer Summer Intern, who recently graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering! Caleb began working on innovative #agtech projects in his senior year, starting with his capstone group project to develop a corn monitoring robot. This device gathers data on corn tassel flowering behavior to be used by the Bartlett Agricultural Lab. He also completed his undergraduate honor's thesis on the effects of propeller downwash on agrichemical sprays dispensed from unmanned aerial drones. Fueled by his love for physics and math, Caleb is advancing into the Master’s program for mechanical engineering, and continuing his research in the food science lab. Joining the Clean Crop Technologies, Inc. team for the summer, he was excited to work on projects from design through prototype fabrication on Clean Current machines, gaining valuable hands-on experience and feedback. Outside of engineering, Caleb is an avid cyclist, reader, and cook, always ready to explore new trails, tales, and tastes! #InternSpotlight

The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center estimates that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts alone will need to grow the #cleanenergy workforce by 37% to meet sector demand by 2030. To address this critical workforce development gap in the Pioneer Valley, Clean Crop Technologies, Inc. has been hard at work with Springfield Technical Community College developing an #electromechanical Training Pathway Program. Today, Clean Crop Technologies, Inc. had the special opportunity to host President John B. Cook and his Cabinet from Springfield Technical Community College for a behind the scene tour of our facility. To read more about the collaboration, check out our CEO & Co-Founder, Daniel White’s blogpost on building a green-collar workforce for the clean energy transition: https://lnkd.in/dzZezukQ

🚀 Exciting News in Sustainable Manufacturing! 💵 The Healey-Driscoll administration has announced $10.28 million in grants to 13 companies under the Massachusetts Manufacturing Innovation Initiative (M2I2), a program of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative. These grants support sustainable manufacturing alternatives and create approximately 230 jobs across key industries, such as climate tech and bio-industrial manufacturing. We are proud of the companies in this group that are members of the FORGE startup network: Clean Crop Technologies, Inc. in Holyoke, received $1.2 million to validate its innovative, energy-efficient contaminant removal technology for crops. Multiscale Systems in Worcester, will use $1.1 million to build a new manufacturing facility for its lightweight, strong Alloy Composite Materials™. myBiometry will use $626,000 to build a manufacturing line for the production of its single-use, disposable gas sensor that measures airway inflammation in asthma patients to detect asthma attacks days in advance. They will also will work with the Massachusetts Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MassMEP) to identify workforce needs and collaborate on training programs. Mantel will use $450,000 to prototype an electric-powered molten borate carbon capture system that can sustain high temperatures while remaining in the liquid phase. Z-Polymers will use $226,039 to scale-up production of products using its proprietary liquid crystal polymer Tullomer™, which is stronger than steel yet lighter, recyclable, highly inert, non-flammable and non-permeable. 🔊 Governor Maura Healey emphasized the importance of investing in R&D and infrastructure to maintain the state's status as a hub for groundbreaking solutions. "Massachusetts is home to the world’s leading innovation economy thanks to our trailblazing manufacturing companies, cutting-edge universities, and top talent.
