Members of our Mesa Hispanic Network (MHN) employee group recently gathered to celebrate the 7th birthday of the group's founding. The ice cream social provided an informal, fun opportunity for members to network and meet staff from various City departments. As a local chapter of the national Local Government Hispanic Network (LGHN), MHN's mission is to attract, develop and retain Latino employees. We're excited to be the host city for the 2025 LGHN national conference taking place in January. #TheMesaWay

What keeps an employee around for 45 years? For Beth, the City’s deputy development services director, it’s the feeling of fulfillment when you see the positive impact you have on the community. In her more than four decades with the City of Mesa, she’s been involved in the design and development of City construction projects. Starting in 1979 as a draftsperson in engineering, she recalls working on board with ink in velum. Over her career, she’s seen the rise of automation as well as the overall growth of our city’s size and population. Despite the changes, Beth said one thing that stayed the same: concern for our residents. “Employees, the City Manager and Council, we’re all looking out for the citizens,” she said. “It's fulfilling to see… the items that are achieved, the parks and revitalization of our downtown and all the infrastructure changes that are necessary to keep our citizens happy and protected.” Is retirement on the horizon? Nope! Beth is still passionate about what she’s doing and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. “[I] enjoy the opportunity to be part of things that are being negotiated now and new developments that are still yet to come.” We're proud to honor Beth's career and celebrate this milestone with her! #TheMesaWay
