We sent four of our own from the McKinney Fire Department Wildland Team (Chief Jones, Driver Purdom, Driver Smith, and Captain Roberts) to provide support with the tragic fires in Southern California. Our team is deployed with a strike team including Dallas, Allen, Frisco, and Greenville fire departments. They're assisting with fire and medical response. We stand in solidarity with our fellow first responders and all those affected by these fires.

A huge shoutout and heartfelt thanks to our amazing McKinney Public Works Department! When winter weather sneaks in, they step up in a big way, transitioning to 24-hour operations to continuously monitor and address road conditions. Their hardworking crews treat over 1,700 lane miles of roadway, prioritizing key areas like: ❄️ Bridges and overpasses ❄️ Intersections and steep inclines ❄️ Major roadways ❄️ Routes near hospitals and emergency facilities They also coordinate with partner agencies to keep major roadways clear: ❄️ U.S. 75, U.S. 380, Highway 5, and Custer Road are maintained by TxDOT ❄️ Sam Rayburn Tollway (121) is maintained by NTTA While snow plowing isn’t typically required in our region due to natural warming, the proactive efforts of the Public Works team make a huge difference when icy weather hits! As a safety reminder, residents are advised to avoid driving unless absolutely necessary during winter weather conditions. This helps reduce accidents and allows crews to work more efficiently. Thank you to the Public Works team for always going above and beyond to keep McKinney safe! We appreciate you!
