It’s our pleasure to present the I AMesbury 2030 Master Plan (pronounced I Am Amesbury). Our Task Force has spent the last few years determining the elements of this plan, conducting research and community engagement including summits and surveys, listening session and pop-up events, and working with representatives from our departments, boards, and commissions to explore implementation. The plan has officially been submitted to the Planning Board for their approval at the upcoming April 22, 2024, meeting. Once accepted, it will be utilized as a guide for city department heads and staff in their daily operations, budget planning, and long and short-term capital plans. The city would like to thank Mary Chatigny, Brittany Steingesser, Peter Frey, Peggy Green, Ann McKay, Jonathan Miller, and Michael Woo, who as members of the Task Force, volunteered countless hours to produce this document. Courtney Hutchinson began her time at the Amesbury Council on Aging /Senior Community Center as a social work intern in 2014. Prior to this, Courtney earned both her Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from UMass Lowell, and a graduate Certificate in Domestic Violence Prevention at UMass Lowell. Her internship here at the COA allowed her the experience to earn her second master’s degree in social work at Boston University. In 2016 she was charged with running the grant funded pilot program called EMHOT (Elder Mental Health Outreach Team), one of three in the state. Because of the strong community partnerships she and the team have established, the Council on Aging’s EMHOT program has currently assisted over 170 older adults in Amesbury and the surrounding 6 communities. The COA has many strong partnerships with colleges and universities and as such, Courtney has supervised 12 social work interns and been a mentor to many more.
