¡SOMOS UNO! CULTURAL HERITAGE REPORT AVAILABLE - The first major milestone of the ¡Somos Uno! Cultural Heritage initiative, the State of Culture Report, is now available on the City’s ¡Somos Uno! website (link below). The report provides an overview of the current cultural ecosystem in Tucson, including the results of a six-month public engagement process, an inventory of cultural assets, a high-level assessment of cultural heritage infrastructure and funding, and an economic impact analysis. TUCSON PARKS AND RECREATION NEEDS CANDY FOR ANNUAL HALLOWEEN EVENT - Tucson Parks and Recreation is gearing up for its spooky season. In preparation for its annual Boo Bash event, the department is currently holding a candy drive, through Friday, Oct. 11. The goal is to raise at least 800 pounds of snack-sized, individually wrapped candy to hand out to children at this free, family-friendly event. If you would like to donate, you can drop off candy at any Tucson Parks and Recreation center (locations linked below). Boo Bash will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, from 5-8 p.m., at the Lincoln Park soccer fields, 4325 S. Pantano Road. TUCSON WATER WINS NATIONAL EQUITY AWARD - The Alliance for Water Efficiency (AWE) recently selected Tucson Water as the recipient of the 2024 Excellence in Equity Award. Tucson Water, representing the City of Tucson, was selected as the winner for offering a wide variety of conservation incentives that address low-income community needs and maintain long-standing partnerships with organizations that offer plumbing assistance for the Tucson community. Partnerships with organizations like Community Home Repair Projects of Arizona and the Sonora Environmental Research Institute provide the community with free toilet and discounted clothes washer installations, emergency plumbing repairs, and grants, no-interest loans, and rebates for rainwater and gray water harvesting. Tucson Water was also recognized for the City's Storm to Shade program and Tucson Clean and Beautiful's Green Stormwater Infrastructure mini grant program's use of tools, like the Tree Equity Score. Tucson Water was also cited for its collaboration with community ambassadors and use of participatory design processes to drive equitable investment and community engagement. City of Tucson Successfully Competes for and Earns Nearly $3 Million for Jacobs Park Revitalization and Expansion Grant Through the U.S. Department of the Interior's Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership (ORLP) Program. Tucson Mayor Regina Romero is proud to announce that the City of Tucson has been awarded $2,995,448 in funding for the revitalization and expansion of Jacobs Park, 3300 N.
