The DeSoto Aquatics and Recreation Center project is officially underway! This $43 million facility will feature two indoor pools, multiple indoor basketball courts with an elevated running track, weight and cardio rooms, and general meeting spaces. New Starbucks is Now Open on Beltline & Westmoreland! This 2,215-square-foot facility is officially open at the corner of Beltline Road and Westmoreland. Construction began in April, and the grand opening was celebrated on September 2, 2024, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Mayor Pro Tem Letitia Hughes, Starbucks store manager Rickie Thompson, and other executives. The new location offers a welcoming atmosphere, in-store service, and mobile order pick-up, operating daily from 6 AM to 8 PM. T.G.I.F. Legislative Breakfast Series Kicks Off this Month The Best Southwest Partnership plans to facilitate and host discussions every Friday in August on the “State of…” City Government, Healthcare, Education, and County Government to inform citizens of Southern Dallas County, Northern Ellis County, and the DFW Metroplex. Each program will include a presentation and after, the public will have an opportunity for Q&A. The T.G.I.F. Legislative Breakfast Series will be held at METHODIST CHARLTON MEDICAL CENTER’s Outpatient Auditorium beginning at 7:15 am with a “Meet & Greet” and buffet breakfast. Yesterday was a great day as we celebrated the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new DeSoto Professional Park. City leaders, the DeSoto Development Corporation, DeSoto Area Chamber (president desotoareachamber) and Wildwood Development Corporation proudly introduced this new professional park to the community.
