Nestled between the Hollywood Hills and the Verdugo Mountains in the heart of Los Angeles County, the City of Burbank covers 17.16 square miles and is part of the “Tri-Cities” area along with neighboring Glendale and Pasadena. The City is characterized by a strong sense of community and is home to 108,000 residents with a daytime population of up to 200,000. Burbank’s strong entertainment base is anchored by some of the biggest names in the business, including, among others, Walt Disney Studios, Disney Channel, Warner Bros., ABC, iHeart Radio, Nickelodeon Animation, Dick Clark Productions, and the Cartoon Network. Join us in recognizing Mr. Tom Wilke as he celebrates 40 years with the City of Burbank! 👏🎉 Tom began his career with the City of Burbank on October 1st, 1984 as a Station Technician Jailer for the Burbank Police Department. In 1988 he was promoted to Police Reserve Officer, and after 6 years in law enforcement he sparked a new interest in line mechanic work. In 1990 he joined the Burbank Water and Power Department as a Line Mechanic Apprentice, where he progressed and became Line Mechanic Supervisor in 2000. In 2021, Tom was promoted to his current position as Manager of Electrical Distribution, where he plays a vital role in keeping the lights on for all residents in the City! 💡 Tom is a valued member of BWP who is commended for his passion for the job and the pride he takes in training and developing his team. The City of Burbank is proud to have dedicated employees like Tom serving the community. Congratulations on 40 years!

Shoutout to our amazing Public Works crews who helped make an incredible project become a reality PW crews helped find and relocate two massive boulders from the Burbank Landfill to John Muir Middle School. Now at the school site, these boulders are being transformed into works of art by Japanese artist Masaji Asaga and John Muir Middle School students. Burbank is proud to have even played a small part in this project, which now stands as a symbol of peace, community, culture, and art!
