Citizens Memorial

Citizens Memorial Hospital will host a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. for its new dialysis center. The public is invited to attend. The center will be located at 1160 W. Parkview St. in Bolivar. The ceremony will be held in the field west of the CMH OB/GYN and Pediatric Clinic and Bolivar Technical College. Parking for the event will be available in the west lot near Bolivar Technical College. The 10,000-square-foot facility will cost about $9 million and is being financed by OakStar Bank in Springfield. Pulse Design Group, Kansas City, is the architect, and JE Dunn, Springfield, is the general contractor. The CMH Dialysis Center is expected to open in fall 2025. We’re excited to welcome Dr. Rachel Pruett, a general surgeon, to the CMH medical staff. She joins general surgeons Dr. Brent Bartgis and Dr. Wayne Wolf and the medical team at CMH General Surgery Clinic in Bolivar. In addition to general surgery cases, Dr. Pruett has special interests in thyroid and parathyroid surgery, dialysis access surgery, and the treatment of varicose veins, peripheral artery disease, and deep vein thrombosis. Citizens Memorial Hospital now has a four-star rating from The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The star rating appears on the CMS Care Compare site at medicare.gov/care-compare. Only 40% of the 2,847 rated hospitals have a rating of four stars or higher. “This new star rating is further evidence of the high-quality care patients receive at CMH,” said Michael Calhoun, CEO/executive director of CMH/CMH Foundation. “Safety and quality are a high priority at CMH and a team effort that involves everyone.
