Erin Riehle, then nursing director of our Emergency Department in 1996 has been a driving force in improving the employment outlook for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She has done this by developing Project SEARCH. Because of her work, thousands of young people with significant disabilities have become contributing members of their communities and businesses all over the United States and abroad have experienced culture change with regard to attitudes about hiring people with disabilities. As National Disability Employment Awareness Month wraps up, we celebrate Erin, who recently retired as Senior Director of Disabilities Services.
