CCI completed the final inspection walk-through for the penstock water stop repair project at the Ludington Pumped Storage Plant alongside Consumers Energy, WSP/Golder and RAM Construction Services. The on-site inspection marks the successful completion of this unique and innovative project! We’re pleased to report a flawless walk-through, with zero punch items—a testament to the hard work and collaboration across all teams involved. This project further strengthens our partnership with Consumers Energy, particularly in the renewable energy market. Special shout-out to CCI's president Jim Like, who joined the inspection and tackled the 88-foot climbs below ground, checking each of the six penstock chambers! As we celebrate this achievement, we're excited to continue conversations with Consumers Energy on future opportunities. A sincere thank you to the CCI team for their commitment and involvement, which were instrumental in the success of this project, including (but not limited to!): Phil Oquist Brendan Raftery John Spilak Ruben Rodriguez Andrew Riess, PE Kara Skidmore Doug Peters Our team at CCI was proud to serve as the general contractor for the plant's penstock water stop repair project. Christman is proud to support the AGC of Michigan's Educational Endowment Fund. Created in 1984, the AGC Educational Endowment Fund provides scholarships, grants and financial aid to help educational institutions and deserving students pursue advanced education and training in construction management, civil engineering and related fields. Applications for the 2025-2026 school year are now being accepted and we encourage you to share this application link: https://lnkd.in/guR5w6Nw H.L. “Bud” Conrad Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship As president and CEO of The Christman Company for nearly 25 years, Bud created opportunities for the next generation of builders, including helping establish the Michigan AGC summer internship program in 1964. Following advice from both his father and Christman's vice president, Bud earned an engineering degree and a bricklayer's card, gaining valuable perspectives from both management and worker viewpoints. This dual insight served him well throughout his career. Gary L. Shannon Memorial Scholarship In 1979, Gary was hired by Christman and worked there for the rest of his life, rising from journeyman carpenter to senior project superintendent. He loved tackling challenging tasks and often claimed he could work a full year without a day off. His dedication defined him and earned him respect as a leader, mentor and advocate in his profession. His leadership and vision is be deeply missed. Through our Be Constructive program, CCI is proud to be an active and significant contributor to the local communities we serve. This week, CCI donated much-needed supplies to the Genessee County Animal Shelter, bringing joy to many animals in need. As always, it was a spirited competition between our Lansing and Livonia offices to see who would be crowned the champions and earn the traditional ice cream trophy. Livonia claimed the title this time, but Lansing is determined to reclaim it in the future! Additionally, we participated in the American Cancer Society - Michigan’s Construction vs. Cancer BigDig event, hosted by the OPERATING ENGINEERS LOCAL 324 Training Facility. It was a pleasure to see the enthusiasm from both young and adult equipment enthusiasts. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making these events memorable. Together, we are not just building; we are making our community a better place. #BeConstructive #FurRealFun #ConstructionVsCancer Lizzie Mendez, Sierra Accettura, Kara Skidmore, Bethany Ames
