🎓 Congratulations are in order for one of our Children's Hospital of Michigan patients, and recent high school grad, Chyna Collins! 18-year-old Chyna was diagnosed with Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor in 2021, a rare form of cancer. Because of her diagnosis, attending school every day was tough between hospital appointments. This year alone, she's had multiple setbacks, including lengthy hospitalizations, several #PICU stays, re-strengthening and rehabbing, disease progression, and navigating different treatments for her cancer. This would discourage almost anyone, but not Chyna 💪 Despite everything, she completed her high school education online and is now a proud high school graduate. Since she's had to miss out on a lot of "regular" high school experiences, including not being able to have a graduation ceremony, our staff decided to throw her a graduation celebration to commemorate all of her accomplishments, including giving her an opportunity to "ring the bell." With her optimistic outlook on life and her positivity in tough times, we are so proud of Chyna and cannot wait to see what the future holds for her! Congratulations Chyna 🎉
