Helping children heal from abuse

About us

MISSION: The mission of the Children's Advocacy Center of Comal County is to provide a neutral, child-friendly agency to the community that facilitates a multidisciplinary approach in the prevention, detection, investigation and treatment of child abuse. COMPANY OVERVIEW: Before the Children's Advocacy Center of Comal County (the CACCC) was created, children who had been abused in Comal County, Texas were taken to many different places to be interviewed by investigators. Often a child would need to tell his or her story to a police officer, a child protective services worker, and an assistant district attorney, all the while being shuttled back and forth from one institutional and sometimes intimidating environment to another. The Children’s Advocacy Center of Comal County was created so that children who had been abused could come to a single place to be interviewed one time so that the number of interviews a child had to experience would be minimized as much as possible. Investigators watch the interview being done by a professional, objective forensic interviewer as it is being recorded. Additionally, the CACCC has a home-like environment, complete with a playroom to make children feel more comfortable. Further, the CACCC has an important role in coordinating the agencies who deal with child abuse cases by facilitating monthly multidisciplinary team (the MDT) meetings. At the MDT meetings, all abuse cases in the County are discussed and team members make certain that the appropriate services have been provided to both the child and the family.

  • Yesterday the CACCC was able to talk with families about responding to child abuse at the City of New Braunfels Westside Community Center (WCC) " It's All About Love and Appreciation" event. Each first Thursday of the month the WCC offers pop-up arts and crafts for families. We are thrilled to partner with the WCC and to be present at these events. • Yesterday the CACCC had the honor of attending the Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio’s (BHFSA) annual event to celebrate the grant awards to nonprofits in the San Antonio area. The CACCC was recently awarded the full amount of our grant application for 2024. From this great group of awardee nonprofits, BHFSA also awarded a community choice award to two nonprofits as voted on by the other nonprofits – and we were voted in as one of the two! With this additional recognition and award, we will receive more funding to help the children in Comal County. This is incredible news, and an honor to have been chosen. THANK YOU to the BHFSA, and our other nonprofits who do such tremendous work for people in our community.
