In 2022, an average of 22 high school-aged teens died of overdose each week in the U.S. Last year in Michigan, 865 young people under age 24 were rushed to emergency rooms due to overdoses. Kids aren’t using more drugs, but many are experimenting with substances laced with deadly fentanyl, thinking it’s just a bit of fun. Fentanyl is being found in everything from marijuana to counterfeit pills, even disguised as candy. Traditional awareness methods aren't enough – that’s why we awarded Community Health Awareness Group (CHAG) with $25,000 to launch a pilot program that is tackling this crisis through peer-to-peer education. Together, we can equip youth with the tools and knowledge to stay safe. https://ow.ly/f2Gk50TQTIA

#WorldMentalHealthDay is on an opportunity to shed light on the mental health crisis affecting children in Michigan. 13.5% of kids aged 3-17 have been diagnosed with anxiety or depression, and nearly two-thirds aren't receiving the help they need. Without proper support, this will continue to impact their futures. At the Children's Foundation, we're taking action. Since 2020, we've awarded more than $4 million to programs focused on early intervention, stigma reduction, education, and research. Together, we can create a future where every child has access to the care they need. Join us in making a difference for the mental health of Michigan’s children. https://lnkd.in/eKYHfMK
