Join us at Zoo Miami on Saturday, November 23rd, for a day filled with meaning and impact. Your participation will make a real difference by supporting the Children’s Bereavement Center's mission to provide free grief support to those in need. Every step we take together brings comfort, healing, and hope to families navigating their grief journey. Kurt Lunkenheimer , one of our amazing CBC board members, is making a difference by sharing his story and honoring those he’s lost. “I lost my father suddenly from a heart attack when I was a sophomore in college in the fall of 1996. I remember answering the knock of a public safety officer on my dorm suite at around 6 am and being told to call my step-mom. The news shattered my world. I had just spoken with my dad the night before. How could this happen? How would I deal with this? How would my sister and two brothers? We all forged our paths with dealing with the passing, sometimes together, sometimes on our own, most likely in ways that the others do not know about…” Continue to read Kurt’s Story about why he is taking Steps for Healing to benefit CBC: https://lnkd.in/eUgxs7m6 #stepsforhealing #5krun #5kwalk #remembrancewalk #miamicbc #liftfromloss #marathon #miamimarathon #fundraising #nonprofitevent

Thank you Michael Cassel, Esq., LL.M. for sharing your story, and the unwavering support to CBC and our mission 💙

Cassel & Cassel, P.A. is proud to sponsor the Children's Bereavement Center | Lift From Loss for Adults Steps for Healing 5k at Zoo Miami on November 23, 2024, at Zoo Miami. Please visit https://lnkd.in/eb_rznV3 to help us reach our fundraising goal of matching (or exceeding!) our sponsorship! As a teenager, the idea of loss is abstract. You know that no one lives forever but you still think you are going to grow up with everyone you love always being around. One day, maybe someone will pass away but that will be after a full lifetime of experiences with them. For me, that reality changed when I lost my father a week after my 14th birthday to his battle with cancer. While loss is something everyone deals with, going through it as a teenager is all the more difficult when so few share similar life experiences. Coincidentally, mere months before I suffered the loss of my dad, my sister-in-law, Mindy Cassel, started the CBC. I was initially skeptical of the idea of joining but, once I did, I experience true empathy for the first time--other kids going through the same thing as me was a truly powerful realization. I grew from one of the original-ish members to being part of the first class of teen facilitators and have remained active ever since. Now, I am proud to sit on the board of directors to ensure the CBC continues on its forward trajectory of care and empathy for kids, like I was, who are experiencing loss far too soon in their lives.
