  • Born at 24 weeks, Micah has undergone 34 surgeries to improve movement and muscle tone related to cerebral palsy. Under the care of Dr. Joshua Vova, Division Chief of Physiatry, 13-year-old Micah recently received cryoneurolysis, a procedure that freezes nerves to relieve pain and increase muscle tone. With his chronic pain now under control, Micah is back to his favorite activity: swimming.

  • For nearly 40 years, Karla Mavity has been dedicated to caring for others. From her early days as a nurse in our CICU to becoming our first-ever nurse recruiter and later bridging the cultures between our Egleston and Scottish Rite Hospitals during the merger, Karla is a model of lifetime dedication to Children’s. As the very person who established our DAISY Award program, she has recognized hundreds of incredible nurses at Children’s. Recently, Karla became the first person in our System to receive the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award—a tribute to her devotion of caring, mentoring and advocating for others. Join us in congratulating Karla in the comments below!

  • It’s an exciting time to be a part of the Children’s family. After years of hearing about what makes Arthur M. Blank Hospital so special, many of our employees took an inaugural walk through its halls during our employee open house. Among the chatter, we heard that it felt like coming home to a new house for the first time. We can’t wait to share our new home with all of you when it officially opens Sunday, Sept. 29!

  • There’s something special about pediatric nurses. 💚 On her way home from a difficult night shift, Samantha’s morning took an unexpected turn when she jumped into action to help save a teenager from a burning car. Since her heroic rescue, Samantha has been awarded the prestigious Hope and Will Award, which recognizes Children’s employees for their exceptional contributions and for going beyond the call of duty.

  • Only 50 more days until we open the doors to Arthur M. Blank Hospital! Ahead of opening on Sunday, September 29, here are five fun facts: 1. Robos: The new hospital will be equipped with 90 autonomous mobile robots and robos, making it one of the largest hospital fleets in the country. They will help our staff with transporting and delivering materials such as supplies, linens, trash and meal trays throughout all 19 floors. 2. Trauma Center: Our new hospital will be the only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center in Georgia when it opens on Sunday, September 29. 3. Family Amenities: Extra consideration was put into family amenities throughout the new hospital, and the designs are based on valuable input from our very own patient families. Some of the amenities include kitchenettes, child life activity rooms, laundry facilities on every floor, dedicated sleeping rooms, and a business center to help normalize a family’s routine as much as possible during their hospital stay. 4. Parking: It will have more than 4,700 parking spaces. The new parking decks will provide families with quick access to the hospital and enhanced navigation to bring convenience and peace of mind. 5. Daylight in Patient Rooms: Every patient room has been designed to maximize access to daylight with over 100 square feet windows overlooking various gardens, the Atlanta city skyline, Stone Mountain, or Atlanta’s beautiful tree canopy. This also helps to conserve energy as the natural light supports lower levels of electricity needed. Which fun fact is your favorite? Tell us in the comments below!
