Today, DFSS Commissioner Brandie Knazze, CPPO received the leadership award from The Network: Advocating Against Domestic Violence for her advocacy and work to secure funding to launch the largest cash assistance program in the nation that is dedicated to survivors of gender-based violence. The Survivor Fund has helped us prove that cash assistance works for survivors, in particular. The Survivor Fund is administered by The Network and had provided $1,000 payments to over 6,600 individuals this year. Cash assistance is putting power back into the hands of survivors. It is about giving survivors breathing room to figure things out and execute their plan. #DomesticeViolence #WearPurple #WearPurpleChi

Senior Fest is back! This month, DFSS hosted our Senior Fest event in the beautiful Millennium Park after a four year hiatus. Seniors from all over enjoyed food, fun, dancing, raffle prizes, health screenings and good times were held all around! A special thank you to Mayor Brandon Johnson who was our keynote speaker! And a very, special thank to the many City departments, DFSS staff and all volunteers who helped made this event so special for our Seniors!
