  • From the fields to the classrooms—and every step toward justice in between—CPLC has been in the fight for 55 years 🌿 Our Anniversary Celebration honored change-makers John Leguizamo, Tom Perez, and Dr. Cecilia Rosales. Each one represents the spirit of resilience that keeps our community moving forward. It’s a celebration of where we’ve been, and a promise to keep pushing for a brighter, more equitable future 💙 Gracias platinum sponsors DLA Piper and HUB International

  • “I knew this couldn’t be life. Those bruises. Those punches. That wasn’t love.” Today, we celebrated 17 women in our domestic violence program who have transformed their lives. We gathered at Amanecer Community Counseling in Los Angeles with their families, our clinicians, leaders in the community, and two past graduates who returned to share their stories of survival 🌞 Ana, one of our guest speakers, shared how escaping domestic violence is not a simple thing. “It doesn’t take one day, two days, or a week. For me, it took 10 years.” We’re proud of the women graduating from our program today. Congratulations to one year of progress, of unlearning abuse, and of healing 🌱🌻

  • Our 55th Anniversary Dinner was unforgettable—a night full of corazón, unidad, y celebración! 🎉 From every corner of the room, you could feel the strength of our shared purpose as we reflected on five decades of impact and progress. One of the night’s highlights was honoring Tom Perez with our 2024 Cause for Change Award. His dedication to civil rights and labor equity has inspired us all to keep pushing for a more just and inclusive future. ✊🏽 As we continue to grow, we’re reminded that leaders like Tom Perez show us what it means to never lose sight of the people we serve, building stronger comunidades that flourish. • This year, for our 55th Anniversary Celebration, we’re proud to honor Dr. Cecilia Rosales with our first-ever CPLC Legacy of Change Award. 🌟 Dr. Rosales has spent her career improving healthcare access for our borderland communities—and her impact goes beyond the clinic. From providing water to migrants in Agua Prieta to giving her own shoes to someone in need without a second thought, she embodies true compassion. Her leadership inspires future public health professionals, and her legacy of health, wellness, and service will continue to flourish for generations. 💙 Gracias gold sponsors AZ DC Consulting, LLC, Salt River Project, SunHawk Consulting, LLC, UnitedHealthcare, Wells Fargo, Airbnb

What does it take for first-generation Latino students to not just attend college, but thrive? 📚✨ At the kickoff for Hispanic-Serving Institutions Week, we gathered with trailblazers like White House Director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs Tom Perez, Tempe Mayor Corey Woods, ASU leaders, and CPLC’s Max Gonzales to reflect on the vital role HSIs play as lifelines for our comunidad. With the Biden-Harris Administration’s $15 billion investment in HSIs, we’re planting seeds for a brighter future—nurturing the dreams of students who are the first in their familias to walk this path. Thank you to all who joined this powerful conversation. This commitment to education not only transforms lives but strengthens our roots, cultivating young leaders to flourish 💫🌱

  • Somos chingonas—and it’s okay to be the unicorn in the room 🦄✨ At our 3rd Latina Leadership Conversation, we were inspired by the incredible stories of perseverance shared by mujeres blazing trails in STEM. Our panelists—Dina de León, Angela Salazar, Jennifer W. Sanchez, and Briiana Velez—shared how they’ve shattered barriers. They spoke about embracing their cultural identity and navigating challenges in male-dominated fields. The conversation became even more powerful when the speakers directly addressed students from Girls Leadership Academy of Arizona and Envision High School. They encouraged these young women to pursue their dreams in STEM, lighting up the room with their words. Thank you Intel for sponsoring this impactful event. Thanks Terry Leyba Ruiz for moderating. And thank you UMOM for providing the delicious food that fueled these motivational conversations! Women’s leadership in STEM is transforming lives. Let’s continue nurturing the minds of our young women as they take their rightful place in these fields. 🌸
