  • Saturday, we celebrated Día de la Raza with pride and gratitude—a day dedicated to honoring the richness of Chicano culture and our mixed heritage. We gathered with danzantes whose movements carried the spirit of our ancestors, lowriders that showcased our pride, and the Brown Berets standing as a symbol of resilience and strength. It was a day to embrace the power of our roots ✊🏽 And on Indigenous Peoples' Day, as we wrap up Nuestro Heritage Month, we acknowledge the suffering indigenous people were subjected to upon the arrival of the European settlers. And how Black, indigenous, and people of color were subjugated for centuries after. This history is difficult, but it’s so important we don’t forget. Today, we honor the deep roots and vibrant cultures of Native communities—past, present, and future. It’s a powerful reminder that our stories are intertwined ✨ Indigenous heritage is part of our shared history and identity, offering us strength, wisdom, and resilience that continue to guide us all. We’re committed to amplifying these voices, learning from their stories, and standing in solidarity for a future where Indigenous rights, lands, and traditions are respected and celebrated. Together, let’s nurture a future that grows from deep roots, where every story is honored, and every voice can thrive 🌿

From never missing a Zumba class to sharing her passion for singing with all of us, she brings joy and energy wherever she goes. Originally from Colorado and raised in Michoacán, she calls our senior center her second home and we couldn’t imagine it without her warmth and positivity. 💃🎶 She continues to inspire us with her vibrant spirit and love for life. • “I knew this couldn’t be life. Those bruises. Those punches. That wasn’t love.” Today, we celebrated 17 women in our domestic violence program who have transformed their lives. We gathered at Amanecer Community Counseling in Los Angeles with their families, our clinicians, leaders in the community, and two past graduates who returned to share their stories of survival 🌞 Ana, one of our guest speakers, shared how escaping domestic violence is not a simple thing. “It doesn’t take one day, two days, or a week. For me, it took 10 years.” We’re proud of the women graduating from our program today. Congratulations to one year of progress, of unlearning abuse, and of healing 🌱🌻
