🚨 Trump has pulled the US out of the Paris Climate Agreement. Despite this act of climate vandalism, American city mayors and the whole C40 Cities network are united in action to confront the climate crisis. Our cities will remain the bastions of climate progress, working tirelessly to cut emissions, build a green economy through a just transition, protect our residents from the impacts of the climate crisis, and continue international collaboration. Multilateralism is the only way to deal with the climate crisis, and one actor, however powerful, will not stand in its way. https://lnkd.in/eputzW_K

"Chicago has always been a leader in climate action...No matter what the future holds, we will not back away from our commitments to our community, country, and the world to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and shift to a pro-people, sustainable economy." -Mayor Brandon Johnson DOE is excited to work hand-in-hand with Mayor Johnson to lead on meaningful climate action. Thank you to Mayor Johnson, President Biden, and other leaders for committing to these efforts.
The Biden Administration has released the updated U.S. Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) today, setting a path to net zero emissions, a stronger economy, healthier communities, and better wellbeing across the United States. The ambitious targets rely heavily on leadership and action from cities, states, and businesses. Up to 62% of these goals can be achieved through the efforts of non-federal actors. Read reactions from the C40 Cities mayors of Austin, Boston, Chicago, Phoenix and Seattle: https://c40.me/3ZGC2xC Despite political obstacles, U.S. cities and mayors will continue leading emissions reductions while creating jobs, strengthening local economies, and improving residents' quality of life.
