In the early days of Chicago Commons, the organization was deeply involved in advocacy and policy work, focusing on the conditions faced by families in Chicago. We conducted extensive research to understand the challenges families encountered and took proactive steps to address them. Amidst the grime and unsanitary conditions of a rapidly growing city, Chicago Commons was one of the first to emphasize the importance of public hygiene. They educated communities about essential practices like handwashing, which were crucial for preventing illness in an era when such knowledge was not widespread. Through outreach and engagement with social movements, Chicago Commons amplified their impact, advocating for policies that would uplift the city's most vulnerable residents. Their pioneering efforts in public hygiene and health laid the groundwork for a healthier Chicago, a legacy that continues in the organization's work today. Support our mission to uplift Chicago communities. Your involvement—whether through volunteering, donating, or spreading the word—makes a difference. Join us in helping families to thrive across generations. https://bit.ly/37t4jRc #ChicagoCommons #ChicagoCommons130
