  • Thank you, Genuine Parts Company for volunteering with us today! GPC volunteers spent the afternoon mulching trails with our operations team today. We split the group into 3 teams. Team 1 used pitchforks to load the wheelbarrows. Team 2 pushed the wheelbarrows down a LONG trail. Team 3 raked and spread the mulch. You'll have to ask the volunteers which job was the toughest! CNC has almost 3 miles of trails and we rely on our corporate volunteers to help us maintain and keep them safe for our youngest visitors. We are grateful for your support and we hope your team enjoyed their day out in nature! 🌳 #LifeAtGPC #DoingOurPart #NotYourTypicalWorkday

  • It's October and that means beautiful weather and trail mulching season! Thank you, PGA TOUR Superstore for sending us your #CommunityCaddies to help us with a big trail maintenance project. We have nearly 3 miles of hiking trails and we cannot get this work done without community partners like you! Today, PGA Community Caddies completed a section of trail that required more than 50 wheelbarrows of mulch. This dynamic team took turns pushing these heavy loads up a long, winding trail (that some might say) was a teensy bit steep at points. They powered through and finished the job! Having well-maintained trails helps keep our young visitors safe and on the designated trail. We're also preparing for Halloween Hikes which is a beloved annual community event. (October 25, 26 & 27) We hope your team enjoyed their day out in nature! #NotYourTypicalWorkday #Volunteer #GetYourNatureOn #CommunityCaddies

  • Thank you, Kyndryl for coming out to volunteer with us again! We truly appreciate your continued support of CNC and our mission to Connect People with Nature. Like most of the Southeast, we needed a little help cleaning up after Hurricane Helene. Kyndryl volunteers arrived early to assist in the Greenhouse area where they helped with storm clean up by moving plants and scraping away the storm muck. They also helped weed, repot plants and covered the newly potted plants with rice hulls to reduce weeds. We are grateful for your time and energy and we hope you enjoyed your day out in nature! #NotYourTypicalWorkday #Community #Volunteer

  • Thank you, Whole Foods Market for creating a workplace culture that allows your employees to give back to their community! WFM volunteers from Merchants Walk joined us in the Unity Garden today and assisted with clearing old planting beds, digging furrows, moving wheelbarrows full of soil, planting Bok choy and harvesting butter beans. We are thrilled to partner with an organization that strives to nourish people and the planet and continues to make an impact on our local community. All produce from our Unity Garden is donated to North Fulton Community Charities to help ease food insecurity in our community. Last year we produced nearly 10,000 pounds of fresh produce for donation! #NotYourTypicalWorkday #Volunteer #Community Powered by Kaiser Permanente

  • Thank you SKIM for volunteering with us today! We are grateful to be included in #SKIM45 your global initiative to celebrate 45 years of impact. Today, SKIM volunteers worked in the Unity Garden alongside our garden coordinator, Coles Bradley. Volunteers helped clear old garden beds, prepared new garden beds, and helped CNC staff prepare the Unity Garden for our upcoming event, Harvest on the Hooch which connects our local community to our garden initiative. All produce from our Unity Garden is donated to North Fulton Community Charities to help ease food insecurity in our community. Fresh produce is the number one most requested food item. Last year we produced nearly 10,000 pounds of fresh produce for donation! SKIM volunteers also helped in the Greenhouse area assisting Henning von Schmeling our Conservation Horticulturist, prepare the greenhouse area for our upcoming Fall Native Plant Sale. The goal of our corporate volunteer program is to provide companies with meaningful opportunities to give back to the community while supporting CNC's mission, To Connect People with Nature. By participating in volunteer projects, corporate teams contribute to the preservation and enhancement of our natural habitats, while also enjoying a rewarding team-building experience. #NotYourTypicalWorkDay #Volunteer #MakeAnImpact #SKIM45 Powered by KASIER PERMANENTE

  • We are grateful for our ongoing partnership with Cox Enterprises, and their continued support of our mission to #ConnectPeopleWithNature. Today, Cox volunteers joined our operations team on a trail maintenance project that involved the removal of debris, and mulching a long section of our Homestead trail. Having well maintained trails helps keep our hikers safe and protects the natural habitat by encouraging visitors to stay on the designated path. Cox volunteers also helped move picnic tables to help us prepare for Harvest on the Hooch. (September 22). And we had a small team of Cox volunteers in the Greenhouse helping prepare plants for our upcoming Fall Native Plant Sale. (September 26-28). As a non-profit, we rely on volunteers to assist with numerous projects across our 127 acres. Join us as a volunteer and come get your nature on! #NotYourTypicalWorkday #Volunteer #Community

  • Thank you General Motors for volunteering with us! This week we had GM on the grounds for back-to-back volunteer days. Day 1: GM volunteers helped clear truckloads of overgrowth out of the Unity Garden as we cleared and prepared the garden beds for fall planting. Day 2: A new team of GM volunteers returned to the Unity Garden and helped mulch pathways, weed garden beds and helped plant Bok choy. The Unity Garden is managed by a single CNC staff member, Coles Bradley. She relies on an army of volunteers to help plant, harvest and maintain the garden throughout every season. We are grateful to GM and all our corporate partners for their continued dedication to Chattahoochee Nature Center and our mission to #ConnectPeopleToNature. All produce from our Unity Garden is donated to North Fulton Community Charities to help ease food insecurity in our community. Last year we produced nearly 10,000 pounds of fresh produce for donation! #NotYourTypicalWorkday #Volunteer #Community powered by Kaiser Permanente

  • Gardening and volunteering should ALWAYS be FUN. Thank you, Sterling Seacrest Pritchard for volunteering with us again! Your hardworking (and fun loving) team of volunteers worked in the Unity Garden today. They mulched walking paths in the garden, assisted with irrigating our Okra crop and helped weed and maintain garden beds as we prepare for two of our fun fall community events. Farm Fair (September 15) and Harvest on the Hooch (September 22). All produce from our Unity Garden is donated to North Fulton Community Charities to help ease food insecurity in our community. As a nonprofit, we rely on our corporate volunteers to help with numerous projects across CNC grounds. We are grateful for your continued support and we hope your team enjoyed their day out in nature! #NotYourTypicalWorkday #Volunteer #Community powered by Kaiser Permanente

  • Thank you, BIS Benefits, Inc. for coming out to volunteer with us today! BIS Benefits volunteers spent the morning working on a Habitat Restoration project in the Chattahoochee Nature Center wetlands. They worked alongside Hannah Grimm a CNC Naturalist who holds a degree in Environmental Horticulture Science. Today's project involved removing the Asiatic Day Flower, an invasive species that spreads rapidly in the right conditions. (Trust us, Georgia has the right conditions!) Why is this project important? 1. Biodiversity Enhancement: Asiatic dayflower can outcompete native plants for resources such as light, water, and nutrients. By removing it, you can help native species thrive, which supports a more diverse and resilient ecosystem. 2. Habitat Restoration: Native plants often provide specific habitat and food sources for local wildlife. By clearing out Asiatic dayflower, you can facilitate the restoration of these habitats, supporting insects, birds, and other wildlife that rely on native vegetation. A special thank you to Ryann P. for coordinating this important volunteer project! We appreciate your team’s dedication and (willingness) to step off the boardwalk and get REALLY close to nature. Spiders…what spiders? #NotYourTypicalWorkday #Volunteer #PoweredbyKaiserPermanente
