Sweet victory! Charlotte Water honey wins first prize in the Mecklenburg Beekeepers Association’s annual honey tasting contest! The best tasting honey was a mixture including nectar sources from the McAlpine Creek WWMF and the Irwin Creek WWTP. McAlpine Creek has approximately 8 hives and Irwin Creek has 3 hives, managed by Charlotte Water staff. This comprehensive inventory confirms the good news that no lead private service lines have been found within our community! This initiative underscores our commitment to ensuring safe drinking water for all residents. Charlotte Water has been monitoring its water for lead and copper since 1991 and has always met EPA standards.
