The Chamber of Mothers is a collective movement to advance maternal rights in America.

About us

The Chamber of Mothers is a coalition of motherhood community leaders and individuals united in advocating for mothers' rights, modeled after the Chamber of Commerce, the largest lobbying block in the United States. Our first goal is to win paid leave, and we have been working in concert with existing lobby and advocacy groups toward that end. Donate: www.give.cornerstone.cc/chamberofmothers

CEO at Parentaly | Parental leave expert and entrepreneur

What is it like to meet a “parental leave hero”? OK, ok maybe that’s a tad dramatic 😉 But on Friday I got to meet Pete Buttigieg and thank him for taking parental leave and being a strong voice for equality of caregiving. In case you missed it: Three years ago, Secretary of Transportation (and former presidential candidate) Buttigieg took two months of parental leave.   Some people mocked him. But most people applauded him. Because he sent a very clear message to the world: parental leave should be the norm for ALL parents. **************************************************** I'm Allison Whalen, founder of Parentaly, sharing stories & tips daily. We work with companies and HR leaders to turn parental leave into a win-win. Follow me + hit 🔔 to stay tuned.

From our Co-founding Mother, Raena Boston ⬇️ “With my first child, I took 12 weeks of unpaid FMLA. I was suffering silently with postpartum depression and/or anxiety. I will never know which one because I had run out of leave and money, and I needed to get back to work ASAP. So I lied on my mental health screen. With my second child, I switched jobs at 7 months pregnant. I didn’t qualify for FMLA — and though my company offered a generous paid parental leave, I was one month short tenure-wise to qualify. I returned to work at 6 weeks postpartum. With my third and final baby, I finally had access to paid leave. That leave radicalized me, and galvanized me to push for paid leave for all parents through Chamber of Mothers. It’s time we stop relying on luck and generosity.” What did no paid laid leave cost you?

“I don’t want adoption to be a separate bucket. Being a parent to a newborn is the hardest thing you could ever go through no matter what the situation is and all parents deserve time off with their newborn.” 👶💖 Imagine this... You're painting a nursery when you get a life-changing call. In just a few hours, Meghan and Sara became parents to a beautiful baby boy. After years of navigating the adoption process, their journey began with joy, tears, and a whirlwind of preparation. But their challenges didn't end there. Meghan, a recent fire academy graduate, couldn't get paid leave due to restrictive policies. Sara had to bundle her PTO for six weeks. Finding affordable daycare was another hurdle, but with determination and community support, they made it through. Almost a year later, their family is thriving. But their story highlights a crucial need: equal paid family leave for all parents, including adoptive ones. Head to the comments below to read their full story ⬇ 📣 This year, paid family leave, maternal health, and affordable childcare are on the ballot. Have you checked your voter registration? ❗ Every vote makes stories like Meghan and Sara's easier for future families. 📱 Text MOTHER to 26797 and VOTE LIKE A MOTHER, for all mothers, this year. 🗳️

We are fighting for paid leave for all - Dads, partners, birthing & non-birthing parents, caregivers, etc. ✊ Remember - paid leave doesn’t just benefit mothers, it benefits ALL. ➕ To the dads who get it, the dads who are breaking stigmas, sharing the mental load, to the dads that are making sure there is parenting equity at home, and to the ones that are fighting along side us and speaking loudly, to those that understand that paid leave benefits all parents, we need you, we see you, and we thank you. 👏🏻 We hope your Father’s Day was wonderful.
