Updates

  • We have a new timelapse video for the ongoing construction to our new facility! After site preparations were taken care of, the crew's primary focus was on the complex foundation and underground jobs that had to happen before visible progress could be underway. Now that about six weeks have passed since our last update, these additions have become more apparent, and it's been exciting to see the new developments being made!

  • Did you know that Central State Hospital is a member of the Central Virginia Healthcare Coalition (CVHC)? CVHC is one of six healthcare coalitions (HCCs) in the Commonwealth of Virginia. It's through these coalitions that VDH and VHHA work with hospitals and healthcare facilities to enhance our capabilities in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from a wide range of public health and healthcare emergencies. • The DBHDS Office of Recovery Services is offering Recovery Ally Trainings this fall, which are designed to increase a community’s recovery resources, decrease stigma, and grow intervention skills. This training is very interactive, and is meant to provide a starting point to supporting people struggling with substance use disorders. Whether you're the family or friend of someone in need, or an experienced healthcare provider already, there are learning opportunities here for everyone. To learn more and register for an upcoming event, scan the QR code or visit bit.ly/VARecoveryAlly.

  • Our new Trolley House Markets have been a huge success! On their opening day, representatives came by to provide free samples of their fresh BBQ, chicken salad, coleslaw, cookies, and more to over 100 members of our team. We appreciate them showcasing all the delicious food that will be on offer, and we look forward to enjoying them throughout the day!

  • Last week, we had the privilege of celebrating our beloved team member Peter Lehman, who will soon be retiring after over 20 years of service at Central State Hospital! In his honor, we dressed in Hawaiian shirts (or Ohio Buckeyes gear), shared our favorite Dad Jokes, and turned in our last-minute legal "contraband" to his surrender table. As our Environment of Care Compliance Manager, Peter has always ensured the safety of our staff and residents, and we wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement!

  • Congratulations to our very own Dr. Sidra Qadir for being nominated alongside her colleague Nina Stokes for this week's DBHDS Thankful Thursday! They were recognized for their leadership as psychiatric providers, and their collaborative attitude that ensures the best treatment for their patients. Thank you for serving our residents with care- we're so proud of you both!

  • Today we're highlighting our Patient Work Program! An individual’s decision to work is a critical component of their recovery, and Central State Hospital is proud to have a program that enables them to do so. Patients can apply for various job opportunities available within the hospital, such as an administrative assistant in the training department, sanitation area, or food services. By working alongside hospital employees, they can develop new skills while refining their existing ones. To learn more about the programming we offer for our residents, please visit https://lnkd.in/eRi9HYhf.
