CBAR is proud to share the #CROI2024 abstract e-book and resources page, with over 20 posters featuring the work across #ACTG, #IMPAACT, and #PHACS networks. Congratulations to all the biostatisticians, epidemiologists and other staff on their contributions to research on HIV, COVID-19, TB, and other infectious diseases!

About us
The Center for Biostatistics in AIDS Research (CBAR) is located within the Department of Biostatistics at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. CBAR's mission is to foster statistical science in clinical trials and other research studies in infectious diseases particularly HIV. CBAR pursues this mission by promoting innovative strategies for the design, data monitoring, analyses, and reporting of research studies, and by providing education and training relevant to statistical aspects of infectious disease research. As one of the largest staff Centers at the School, CBAR is comprised of >100 doctoral- and master’s-level biostatisticians, epidemiologists, and associated professional staff. These team members are at the forefront of statistical research related to the development of methods for the design and analysis of HIV clinical trials and observational studies, in the areas of HIV and infectious diseases. Our current research focuses on methods for patient-focused outcome measures that integrate efficacy and safety outcomes, for competing risks data, for personalizing treatment, and for comparison of technologies (e.g., point of care versus gold standard technologies). We also have a particular focus on the development and application of sophisticated epidemiological models for evaluating treatment benefits accounting for confounding by indication, such as the use of marginal structural models, mediation analysis, and other causal inference approaches. Our current training activities focus on programs for supporting the development of biostatistical expertise at institutions in Africa, South America, and South-East Asia. The #ACTG A5359 study showed that long-acting ART with cabotegravir and rilpivirine is more effective than oral ART for people who have had challenges with adherence. Congratulations to all CBAR statisticians and epidemiologists for all their work on this study! Read more here:

On this 35th anniversary of #WorldAIDSDay, the Center for Biostatistics in AIDS Research extends gratitude to our participants, site staff, data managers, clinical investigators, epidemiologists, statisticians, administrative and creative staff, leadership, and others involved with our networks for all their work and dedication towards improving the health of people living with HIV/AIDS. We would also like to share #NICHD's spotlight article reflecting on recent progress in HIV research, in which various #PHACS studies were referenced. We hope to continue fulfilling our mission and collaborating with our communities to contribute to advancing HIV/AIDS research. https://lnkd.in/eFdjTdDz
