As the conflict continues in Gaza, people are being forced into smaller and smaller spaces. Over 88% of the Gaza Strip is currently under evacuation orders. Everything is in short supply, including much-needed hygiene items. Damage to infrastructure has led to raw sewage pooling in the streets and the shortage of hygiene products exacerbates the spread of diseases. CRS is providing hygiene kits for families in Gaza, which include shampoo, soap, disinfectant, diapers, and menstrual supplies, among other items. For some women, this kit arrives just as they are preparing to give birth, providing critical supplies like diapers and towels. Please pray for the CRS staff who work to deliver these supplies under extremely challenging circumstances, including limited transportation due to a lack of fuel.

✨We made some history last week and we want to tell you all about it. ✨ CRS and the government of Nuevo Leon, Mexico launched a groundbreaking financial mechanism for social investment, the first of its kind for both CRS and Mexico. This pioneering initiative, known as the Social Investment Bond (SIB), aims to significantly reduce youth unemployment in Nuevo Leon by providing essential support to young individuals aged 18 to 24, facilitating their integration into the formal economy. The SIB operates on a pay-for-results model, fostering collaboration between the public, private, and social sectors to address social issues with maximum efficiency and transparency. The program provides intensive training to 500 youth, with the goal to ensure that at least 60% of participants secure formal employment. CRS and YouthBuild México will implement a comprehensive program over 28 months, focusing on training, labor inclusion and support for youth. "Partnering with Nuevo León’s government to launch this program is a tremendous honor for CRS, as it marks the first time both our organizations are generating sustainable growth and youth employment through this type of innovative mechanism. While we may be starting small, we are confident that its success will pave the way for expansion across Mexico and Latin America,” Beth Collins, Managing Director of Impact Investment, said. Let's give a round of applause 👏👏👏 to everyone involved in this innovation! If you want to learn more, visit: https://brnw.ch/21wMdcI.

Imagine a primary school with just two classrooms and a couple of benches, where students sat on stones or the bare ground to attend lessons. This was how the Zamalva Public School in Cameroon functioned. In 2022, the school received a facelift when we rehabilitated another two-classroom building and provided 30 benches for each classroom and tables and chairs for the teachers. “The children and the teachers now learn in a comfortable environment,” says head teacher Ndelme Zra. “Since the building was renovated, our school population has increased from 320 to 432 pupils.” There has even been an improvement in exam scores. This is just another example of how “small” things can make a big difference. https://bit.ly/3XhO6p7
