We are honored to have been the only company to have a seat at the table as a member of the USDA Equity Commission. Led by our Senior Vice President of ISC (Inclusion, Sustainability and Community) and current USDA Equity Commission member, Todd Corley, we had the distinct honor of co-hosting the “Power of Partnerships”, the first in a series of regional rollouts starting with the Midwest. The event focused on sharing the results of the commission’s recent Equity Report and discussing the next generation of farming, ownership, sustainable agriculture, food security, and food sovereignty to benefit the future of all hardworking people.

This #SkilledTradesDay we're highlighting our partnership with Metallica's Foundation, All Within My Hands Foundation (Metallica). With the support of our For The Love of Labor grant program, Metallica scholars like Dijon are able to get the training they need to find fulfilling careers in the skilled trades and provide for their families. Dijon Holmes got his start in the construction industry after taking a short-term training class at Valencia College back in 2016. This year, Dijon returned to Valencia’s Accelerated Skills Training program to study welding. And thanks to Valencia’s partnership with Metallica’s Foundation, All Within My Hands, Dijon’s dream of becoming a welder is near. He’s now completing the college’s five-month Welding 2 program and is looking forward to blazing a new trail. “I value the sense of security that welders have,” says Dijon. “You never have to worry about a job.” He also wants to provide for his two-year-old daughter. “For her sake, I want to be financially secure.”

Happy Draft Day! As Detroiters, we were proud to host a T-shirt design competition with our friends at Pensole Lewis College. The assignment: Create a graphic making the connection between Detroit’s hardworking spirit and the draft hopefuls arriving to the Motor City to take the next big step in building their own legacies. Detroit native and PLC graduate, Matthew holness, submitted the winning design, which has themes of community, industry, toughness and grit. We were thrilled to partner with Matthew and fellow local artists to highlight their incredible work at a time when Detroit will be in the national spotlight. The T-shirts are currently on sale exclusively at the two Detroit Carhartt locations - 5800 Cass Ave. and 441 W.
