😿 As a pet lover, you understand the importance of providing your furry friend with the best possible care. But not everyone has the financial means to do so, which is why the Direct CARE Fund is such a valuable resource. With immediate funding support for preventative and emergency veterinarian care, Direct CARE ensures that every pet receives the care they deserve. 🤝🏼 And through the Rotating Vets Program, vets can volunteer their time and skills to help pets in need while learning more about the communities they serve. By donating to DirectCARE, you can become a part of a community that truly cares about animals and the people who love them. 🙌🏼 Visit the link below to donate today: https://lnkd.in/gbPpZUY8 💚 Special thanks to Maddie's Fund, Titos Vodka for Dog People and our CARE Centers for transforming our vision for human and animal well-being into a cute and furry reality! #DirectCARE #MaddiesFund #ThanksToMaddie #VodkaForDogPeople

“This PSA is about killing stereotypes and expanding the narrative of the perception of typical pet owners in our country. Often the heroes are Caucasian, and the villains are members of the BIPOC community. Animal lovers and caring pet owners are of all races.” says James Evans producer and founder of CARE in K9 Magazine. Watch the Video Here: https://lnkd.in/e6PVc6rm

“In Ojibwe culture we refer to them as they’re alive, because they are alive to us and all living things extend past you know, just human beings,” she said. “And I see aspects of that in that respect, and that awareness of their culture that life is not just our own experiences, but what goes on around them too.”

"Experiences like this with discrimination are a part of the reality of being Black, queer, disabled, and owning a dog breed that America has stigmatized as aggressive and unworthy of housing despite their actual individual characteristics. There are few people more prepared for discrimination against themselves or their dog’s breed than me. Yet, the preparation doesn’t prevent the prejudice and discrimination. What’s worse is I will never be compensated for the harm that this caused me." Megan Covington, Ph.D. A Must Read if you are paying attention to the current policies in our country, if you value human rights and if you are saying you are for Social Justice. It's not about the shirt you wear, the sign you post or the words you say... it's about the listening to learn and taking action! At the end of long travel week, someone said at our last talk “You live your acronym, CARE.” We are always going to listen to learn and share. We are a mighty group of compassion experts who advocate for Equity, happy to partner with likeminded organizations and individuals… because it’s the only way we are going to make real change. It’s not easy. Love is a Verb.
This week, our Found Animals team is representing at the Humane Canada Summit for Animals! MFA’s CEO Brett Yates and Vice President of Programs and Strategic Initiatives Jennifer Pimentel Naitaki united with James Evans, CEO and Founder of C.A.R.E Companions and Animals for Reform and Equity, and Elizabeth LeClair on today's panel “Joining With Our Communities for Change” moderated by Kathy Duncan, Director of National Programs at Humane Canada. The discussion focused on how the COVID-19 pandemic led to significant changes in animal shelter operations across Canada and the U.S., shifting from traditional practices to more community-focused approaches. This transition addresses the challenges of diverse access to care, demographic representation, and affordable pet-inclusive housing. It was an enlightening session powered by ideas on how we can improve both within our organizations and in our communities. Great work, team! #summitforanimals #animals #animalwelfare #community #canada
