This Amputation Nation documentary will chronicle heartbreaking and inspiring stories of patients suffering from critical limb ischemia and the physicians fighting to save their limbs from amputation. Our founder Craig Walker, MD and many CIS interventionalists as well as patients are speaking out on this epidemic of PAD. Spread the word. #padmonth #padawarenessmonth #amputationnation #clifighters
In the words of Dr. Craig Walker, "We are underdiagnosing peripheral arterial disease. It has not gotten the attention it should, because it is a killing disease, it is a disabling disease, and, most importantly, it's a disease we now have great treatments for. . . . [But] we're waiting until people are at the end of the spectrum and almost beyond hope." Through interviews with leading practitioners, patients, and other stakeholders, Amputation Nation will explore what makes peripheral artery disease (PAD) one of the developed world's most critical—and most underpublicized—health crises. September is Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Awareness Month! PAD occurs when peripheral arteries, most commonly in the lower legs, become narrowed and restrict blood flow, leading to pain, swelling or ulcers. PAD is common and treatable, but early diagnosis is crucial. Talk to your cardiologist about your risk. https://lnkd.in/g2gMnuTU #padawarenessmonth #padmonth #clifighters #limbsalvage

Our physicians are committed to the improvement of cardiovascular care! Craig Walker, MD, Pradeep K. Nair, MD, Ankur Lodha MD and several of our team members participated in the Amputation Prevention Symposium (AMP) last week by showcasing live cases for training and education purposes to improve treatment for chronic limb ischemia (CLI) and reduce amputations. Dr. Ankur Lodha performed a live case from our Lafayette office-based lab using laser atherectomy to treat complex calcified lesions in the superficial femoral artery (SFA) via radial access in the wrist. This was a great teaching case! Dr. Pradeep Nair performed a live case from the CIS Ambulatory Surgery Center in Gray, also using a laser stent in the SFA below the knee, and displaying how he manages difficult cases. Dr. Craig Walker served on the discussion panel for three of the live cases, as well as a moderator for a session on Vessel Preparation for CLI. Thank you to our team for their dedication to education as a part of our mission here at CIS! #AMPCLI2024 #CLIFighters New Cardiovascular Horizons HMP Global OEIS Society Chris Wooley CLI Global Society
