Ella is a TriDistrict CAPS alum and was a Student Associate who served as an intern with the Simulation Lab at Regions Hospital this past spring. Kudos and thanks to Ryan Aga and the team there, and for our great partners Christine Wilson and Molly Lindblad, also at Regions, in Volunteer Services, for making connections and providing such an impactful learning experience. Hats off to Ella for first pursuing, then leaning into the opportunity, and knocking it out of the park!

CAPS American Justice For All (Law) students visited the Coterie Theater on September 25th to watch "Horse Power", gaining valuable insights into the history of the American Royal and the ongoing issues of racism in horse training. Afterward, they toured the U.S. Federal District Court in Kansas, meeting U.S. Marshal's office reps, Kansas District Judge Dan Crabtree, and U.S. District Attorney Kate E. Brubacher. It was a day full of informative and impactful experiences! ⚖️

One of our first CAPS Network podcast episodes was with the incomparable Clifton Taulbert. He is a national treasure. The best storyteller and issuer of wisdom I've ever been blessed to call a friend. Take a break from your day and be fully present with Clifton and his journey from the cotton fields of the Mississippi delta to the halls of the United Nations.

High School Student | Exploring Bioscience & Building Connections

Last week at the MET Professional Academy, the bioscience strand took a tour of the lab at Banner Health. We learned about different mental disorders and how they shape the brain physically. I also got to hold a brain which was very interesting! This experience was amazing and I am excited for what else we will be doing this year. CAPS Network

Student at Sunrise Mountain High School and MET Professional Academy - Aspiring Computer/Mechanical Engineer

At MET Professional Academy I have been able to work with others and acquire multiple professional skills such as networking and time management. I have gained these skills and enhanced previous skills through various tasks in the Engineering Program and the MET as a whole. Some tasks we have been working on so far this semester include our Friday Projects in which professional engineers come into MET and share their experience in the work field and reflect it into us via projects. I have also learned better time management skills through our EPICS Project we have been working on throughout the semester, connecting with real stakeholders that I have to satisfy with me and my team’s work. At MET, I have connected with multiple engineers and have worked along side a mentor that has helped me learn about various aspects of the real Engineering field. Along with my major projects, I have various tasks to complete in the Engineering class such as physics, using CAD programs, and Microsoft EXCEL that can be implemented into these projects and my skillsets. MET Professional Academy has taught me how to manage my time and resources efficiently to better my future in a professional career. MET Professional Academy CAPS Network

High School student / Future R&D Electrical Engineer

The MET Professional Academy is a program in the Peoria Unified School District in Arizona. Here at MET Professional Academy, high schoolers are offered the chance to get hands on experience while in a professional environment. The MET Professional Academy provides STEM related strands which are Medical, Bioscience, Global Business, Technology, and Engineering. These professional strands work together for projects and networking. The strand that I'm in is the Engineering strand as a first year. In the Engineering strand at MET Professional Academy, students gain knowledge about applied mathematics, SOLIDWORKS, and different Engineering fields. This strand is also dedicated to giving back to the community, This is done through community service and projects. One project we do is called Engineering Projects In Community Service (EPICS) where us students research, develop, and design projects to give back to the community. While another project we do in the Engineering strand are Friday projects where Engineers in different fields come over every Friday to teach us information and help us solve problems in their field. So far my experience at MET Professional Academy is amazing. I've met so many new people that are passionate about this program and what they want to be in the future. I also love the opportunities and challenges that are given here at the MET Professional Academy. I would say that my most favorite part of the MET Professional Academy are the field trips and projects. I find it amazing how we go on field trips every few weeks to explore the different jobs in the engineering field and to apply that information to what we learn in class. I also love the projects because I work with bright people that can communicate and work together to achieve a goal. All in all, my experience so far at the MET Professional Academy is memorable one.
