🌟 Field Day Spotlight! Earlier this year, Program Director Alexis (Lex) Carlsson and Program Associate Nathaniel Spilkin visited our partners at Edge Collaborative for in-person collaboration with local leaders within the City of Stockton and San Joaquin county. Our team supports Edge Collaborative and their partners with technical assistance and strategy design, readying social sector organizations and agencies to apply sector-based strategies to program design and preparing organizations for state- and federal-level public investment opportunities. For several of these organizations, this work is increasingly centered on building organizational capacity to embed Talent Pipeline Management (TPM) methodologies into regional planning efforts, as well as strengthening local career pathways and building regional, employer-focused partnerships. 🤝 Restore the Delta: They kicked off the day with a productive technical assistance session with Sara Medina, Sustainable Agriculture and Land Manager, and her team from Restore the Delta, and Taylor Williams, Director of Workforce, from Edge Collaborative. Restore the Delta is leading key advocacy for environmental justice (EJ) communities, Delta Estuary health and movement efforts to support Delta farmers in transitioning to sustainable farming practices and bolstering the health of small- and medium-sized businesses. Check out their work at their website and their newly released Rice Farming Handbook (see comments below for links) 🎨 HATCH Workshop: The day continued with a tour at HATCH Workshop, a vibrant makerspace. HATCH supports local artists in launching their businesses and fuels creative endeavors in the community. A big thank you to Executive Director, Elazar Abraham, for the insightful tour! Learn more about their inspiring work (see comments). Of course, the team headed to Gian's Deli, a local favorite, and the Haggin Museum to dive into Stockton’s local workforce history. We are proud to support initiatives like this, that enhance workforce development and community engagement outcomes. These field visits not only strengthen our partnerships, but also deepen our commitment to positive community impact. On to planning the next one! #RegionalDesign #CommunityImpact #WorkforceDevelopment #TalentPipelineManagement

We recently returned from an incredible team retreat in Grass Valley – it was so wonderful to have face to face time with the team! 🌲✨ This retreat was more than just a getaway; it was a chance for Capitol Impact to build deeper connections and understanding, brainstorm together, and welcome new members to the team. We played games, dove into our DISC assessments, completed a Nevada City scavenger hunt, enjoyed downtime together, and talked about our visions for the future of the firm and how we can contribute to a better California. We’re thrilled to introduce our new teammates to our amazing network of clients and community partners. They bring fresh perspectives, new skills, and a shared commitment to our mission. We couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead! #socialimpactconsulting #teamretreat

We are thrilled to share news that amplifies our mission to build a better future for all Californians. Capitol Impact will assume responsibility as the backbone organization for the Sacramento K-16 Collaborative, a role previously led by Project Attain. The Sacramento K-16 Collaborative, launched in 2022 as part of the California Regional K-16 Education Collaboratives Grant Program, is committed to advancing educational equity and workforce opportunities. By strengthening college and career pathways, this initiative spans an eight-county partnership, bringing together K-12 County Offices of Education and districts, higher education institutions, and employers across California’s Capital Region. Capitol Impact has been involved with the Collaborative since its inception, helping to facilitate its launch at the onset of the grant. Now, we are honored to take on an expanded role as the K-16 Collaborative’s convening body and backbone organization. We are grateful to our longtime partner, Project Attain, whose successful stewardship of the collaborative has enabled its progress to date. We are excited to hit the ground running and continue the momentum they have built. Capitol Impact remains committed to advancing educational equity and workforce opportunities, ensuring a brighter future for all in the Sacramento region. Together with our partners, we look forward to the incredible impact we can continue to make through this collaborative. Driving Workforce Solutions: Capitol Impact's TPM Insights and Recommendations Worker shortages over the past three years have driven employers to seek more effective strategies for recruiting and retaining entry-level workforces. One standout strategy gaining widespread interest is the Talent Pipeline Management® (TPM) program by the U.S. Chamber Foundation. 🌟 📰 Check out this insightful Forbes article by former CA Employment Development Director Michael Bernick on TPM: https://lnkd.in/gHm6mRYm As Bernick writes, TPM isn't about new tech tools or AI solutions; it's a structured process to identify, onboard, and advance local workers. It's designed to meet specific and immediate employer needs while rethinking how companies and sectors invest in entry-level workers, reduce turnover, and support a fuller middle-class economy. Key Features of TPM: 📈 Real-Time Job Needs: Up-to-date information on job openings, validated by employers. 🎓 Skills Over Credentials: Focus on the skills needed for job success, not just degrees. 🤝 Employer-Driven Partnerships: Employers choose training and workforce partners based on performance. 📈 Mobility Structures: Prioritizing advancement opportunities within firms and sectors. As the first organization to bring TPM to California through our partnership with California Chamber of Commerce, Kaiser Permanente, and Los Rios Community College District, Capitol Impact has deep insight into the promise of TPM and lessons learned for implementation. Here are a few of our recommendations for deep employer engagement: 🚗 Authentic Employer Leadership: Ensure employers are in the driver's seat, leading the talent pipeline process.  📈 Data-Driven Decisions: Utilize actionable data to make informed decisions about workforce needs.  🤝 Collaborative Partnerships: Foster strong partnerships with educational institutions and workforce boards to align training with industry needs.  💫 Inclusivity and Accessibility: Focus on making opportunities accessible to underrepresented groups, including women and people of color.  🔍 Continuous Improvement: Regularly evaluate and improve processes to meet evolving workforce demands.  🏡 Supportive Services: Provide wrap-around services like housing and transportation support to enhance worker retention. Discover how Capitol Impact is transforming workforce systems in California with TPM, and learn from our success stories! Contact Annie Sterling or Alexis Carlsson to build a diverse and resilient talent pipeline together. 📚 Read the full article to dive deeper into TPM's impact: https://lnkd.in/gHm6mRYm Hashtags: #TalentPipeline #TPM #WorkforceDevelopment #TalentManagement #EmployerEngagement #FutureOfWork #CapitolImpact #CaliforniaJobs
