Meet Jacob Hartley! Jacob is a native of Mobile, Alabama. In July 2023, he completed a master's degree in International Governance at Sciences Po in Paris, France. Jacob hopes to pursue a career in public affairs, leveraging his expertise in foreign policy, proficiency in the French language, and understanding of U.S. public policy. At Capitol Counsel, he finds the financial services and healthcare policy areas particularly engaging, as his previous professional roles have mainly centered around business and foreign policy. Perhaps a little nostalgic of his time in France, Jacob is still on the search for the best baguette in D.C. #InternSpotlight #PublicAffairs #CapitolCounsel #PolicyWork

Capitol Counsel, LLC reposted this
From Capitol Counsel, LLC's Martin Gold: "Today, April 4, marks the 75th anniversary of the signing of the original treaty that created NATO. On April 4, 1949, representatives of 12 nations gathered in Washington, DC to participate in the ceremony, which was held in the Mellon Auditorium on Constitution Avenue. Secretary of State Dean Acheson signed the treaty for the United States. President Harry Truman presented remarks. On July 21, 1949, by a vote of 82-13, the Senate consented. The treaty itself represented serious, ongoing collaboration between the Administration and the Senate and between Democrats and Republicans.
