Thank you to the Cancer Support Community for inviting me to join the faculty for this year’s Psychosocial Oncology Professionals (POPS) Symposium. I was thrilled to join Sally Werner to discuss patient navigation reimbursement and sustainability. It’s been an unprecedented year for navigation and spreading the word about the incredible progress being made is so important. POPS speakers also covered topics like digital ethics, medical cannabis, vicarious trauma, and health equity. Psychosocial oncology professionals work tirelessly to support peope impacted by cancer and I will jump at any opportunity to support them. #oncology #psychosocial #socialwork #navigation

My time in Minnesota at Association of Cancer Care Centers’ 41st Annual NOC was short, but I had the pleasure of presenting Cancer Support Community’s landscape analysis on psychosocial support needs and sources of resilience for patients from rural, Black and African American, and Hispanic and Latino Spanish-speaking communities at last night’s welcome reception. This morning, I learned more about the way that AI is being used to screen for pancreatic cancer, and how it mitigates racial and ethnic disparities and helps overcome barriers to care. Special thanks to Abigail Newell, PhD and María B. Gonzalo, MS for their work and partnership on the landscape analysis! Team work, dream work!
