Today is #PrevivorDay— a day that’s the heart of our mission at CancerIQ For those who may not be familiar, Previvor Day is a celebration of those individuals who, armed with genetic insights and empowered by preventive actions, have been able to avoid a cancer diagnosis that once seemed all but certain. It’s a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we focus on using all the tools at our fingertips to help intercept cancer. At CancerIQ, we are driven by the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to be a previvor – whether because of a genetic predisposition to cancer, a lifestyle choice that can be managed now, a barrier to adherence we can make less intimidating, or a family history we haven’t quite cracked the DNA code for yet. Our work is about more than just technology—it’s about scaling what we know works to help patients understand their risks and make proactive choices that can change their lives. It’s about equipping healthcare providers with the tools they need to make risk-based care an accessible reality for all of their patients, ultimately reducing the burden of hereditary cancer on countless families. To me, Previvor Day is incredibly personal and profoundly inspiring because of the strength of those who face a genetic risk with courage, the healthcare providers who support them, and the families whose futures are rewritten thanks to these life-changing interventions. Today, I want to honor the resilience of the previvors who chose prevention over fear and the tireless dedication of the healthcare professionals who make that possible. This day is a testament to why our work matters: it’s not just about treating cancer, it’s about making sure that fewer people have to face it in the first place. Here’s to the power of prevention, to all the previvors out there, and to continuing our mission of creating a future where cancer is not inevitable, but preventable and detectable when we can get ahead of it!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year, more than 350,000 patients will receive a new diagnosis of breast cancer in the United States. As many as 10% of these cases will be due to genetic or familial risk factors that could have been addressed in advance. We're on a mission to change that – CancerIQ is doing even more to help our partners communicate the important role risk assessment plays in the prevention and early detection of breast cancer and motivate patients to take advantage of their risk assessment services. Attending the National Society of Genetic Counselors conference in New Orleans last week with the CancerIQ team was such an inspiring experience! It was a privilege to connect with so many dedicated genetic counselors, researchers, educators, and other professionals, all united by a shared goal. In my conversations with genetic counselors, a key theme kept emerging— ensuring that every patient eligible for a genetic test gets tested. It was great to share ideas on how to accomplish this goal, including strategies to better identify high-risk patients and ways to streamline the genetic counseling process to make it easier for genetics teams to reach more patients. These efforts are driving real change in patient care, ensuring that more individuals receive the critical testing and care they need. Looking forward to continuing these important conversations and seeing everyone again in Seattle next year! #NSGC2024

Honored to represent the Hackensack Meridian Health Hennessy Institute for Cancer Prevention (HICAP) at the New York Football Giants Crucial Catch game last night, and raise awareness for cancer prevention and early detection 🏈 Kudos to Malvina Kefalas from CancerIQ , our partner in providing easy and discrete cancer asessments, who came to support us. Also, shoutout to #Hakeem_Nicks, the legendary NY Giants wide receiver who is a supporter of cancer prevention and came to our table to help spread the word (and sign my cancer risk assessment flyer 😃 )

"By leveraging advancements in genetic testing and early detection technologies, individuals at high risk of cancer can be identified before the late stages of the disease, Feyi Ayodele, Founder and CEO, CancerIQ explained. For example, individuals with certain genetic mutations should receive proactive measures, such as prophylactic surgeries or more frequent screenings to mitigate their risk. Unfortunately, she noted, access to these types of innovations is uneven. Many patients, particularly those in underserved areas, lack the resources or knowledge to pursue preventive care. To combat this, she said the industry must prioritize integrating genetic counseling and testing into primary care settings." – Oliver Wyman https://lnkd.in/gSqiNmqf
