This Indigenous Peoples' Day, we want to shine a light on the important work of the Urban Indian Center of Salt Lake. UICSL provides whole-person health care and community services to Tribal members in the greater Salt Lake metropolitan area and beyond. A recent grant from Cambia Health Foundation is supporting the launch of the center's new Rebalancing Culture program, which fosters intergenerational connection among Native elders, youth and communities around history, identity and culture. The program aligns with the Foundation’s Healthy and Connected Aging focus area by working to reduce social isolation and loneliness among older adults through intergenerational approaches. In honor of World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, we’re proud to share about a textbook co-authored by Sojourns Scholar Cara L. Wallace. The book, “Intentionally Interprofessional Palliative Care,” was published earlier this year and offers a guide for palliative care teams, including chaplains, nurses, physicians and social workers, to collaborate effectively and deliver exceptional patient care: https://lnkd.in/g-FXnxNa

Cambia Health Foundation was recently honored with a Community Health Partnership Award from the Idaho Community Health Center Association at the 2024 United Together conference! This award recognizes the Foundation’s commitment to advancing health equity in Idaho through strategic investments and partnerships. Our president and board chair, Peggy Maguire, accepted the award and emphasized the importance of bi-directional partnerships. She praised the Idaho Community Health Center Association and its 15 federally qualified health centers for their tireless efforts to serve Idahoans' health needs. In accepting the award, Maguire said, “This award is particularly meaningful because it reflects our values of collaborative partnership. We never want to be seen as a Foundation to write a check and walk away. We value relationships and are proud to be recognized for our dedication to learning from our grant partners and making a positive difference in Idaho.”

❤️ This is a special year for the American Heart Association as they celebrate 100 years of saving and improving lives. We're proud to support events like today's #GoRedForWomen luncheon, which help foster important community conversations about heart health.
Regence Chief Medical Officer Dr. Donna Milavetz shared a personal story in her keynote at today's #GoRedForWomen lunch in Portland — about how heart disease's impact on her own family led her to become a physician who helps empower women to take control of their health. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States, yet it is highly preventable. Milavetz urged attendees to take it seriously: Make your annual wellness visits and encourage other women to do the same. “Together we can make a difference and save lives,” she said. Special thanks to the American Heart Association of Oregon for hosting this inspiring conversation. ❤️ #PDXGoesRed
