DOWNTOWN VACAVILLE BID’s Leslie Silver attended Main Street America’s Tranformation Workshop earlier this month. #camsmember #econdev #camainstreet #mainstreet #revitalization
The 2024 Community Transformation Workshop, Oct 15 and 16 in Nevada and Des Moines, Iowa, marked a few milestones for Main Street America. 🥇 Record attendance 🥇 A new, reimagined format that blends a train-the-trainer model with experiential learning experiences that concludes in action and application. We're already working on changes we want to make for next year! No rinse and repeat in this house. 🥇 Premiere of Main Street America's new Data Packet. Our awesome Research Team unveiled a new infographic format that compiles components of data from sources like ESRI, the Main Street Community Survey, Placer.ai, and the U.S. Census into an all-in-one Main Street special. Excited for the feedback we've received on this - we're already thinking about the next iteration! 🥇 Personalized Mini-Data Snapshots. Each participant received a mini-data snapshot specific to their own community. Meaning, we pulled the data from the sources listed above (minus the community survey) into a personalized data snapshot for each participant. We know that a lot of Main Street programs can't afford subscriptions to data services like Placer.ai - but we can provide that value to our network through learning experiences and educational offerings like the CTW. I could go on about the successes and content changes of the workshop, but really what matters most are the people who made it happen and the people who came together to learn and grow. While I wasn't able to attend the workshop in person, I am incredibly thankful for each and every person involved on either side of the experience. #conferenceroundup Humboldt County economic development professionals sharing their regions successes and challenges with CAMS members from across the state!
California Main Street ☀️💡 Conference was a blast 🥳!! Hosted 🏠by City of Eureka, CA ⚓️and geared towards empowering 💪🏻 local economic growth 🚀 through the Main Street America 🪂 program centered 🎯on the cultural heart 🧧of main streets and downtowns across America. These spaces often represent a thriving 🍇entrepreneurial hub 👐🏽and the cultural heart ❤️ of the city. Main Streets and Downtown Business Associations are key 🔑 parts of the economic development ecosystem 🪴as they include Cultural Arts Districts like Eureka Cultural Arts 🎭 District as Leslie Castellano explains, as well as the importantance of regional partnerships with your local SBDC, in this case…North Coast Small Business Development Center ✨directed by Wilfred Franklin 👨🔬and joining your local CA Jobs First region, in this case Redwood🌲Region RISE beautifully demonstrated by Leoni Fohr 🦋and Susan Seaman 👩🏼🎤. Building a strong community entrepreneurial ecosystem 🪲wouldn’t have the legs🦵to stand on without advocacy and legislation 🔏explains Director Bianca Blomquist 🧑🏻🏭of Small Business Majority 🏗️ and we must all work together to foster community change, something California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA) 🐻knows all about 🌇. This event was FULL of great people💁♀️, friends old 👋🏿and new😊, and we all left with inspiration and practical advice on the importance of Main Streets to the small business community and how to get involved 🛍️.
