About us
The California High-Speed Rail Authority is responsible for planning, designing, building and operation of the first high-speed rail system in the nation. California high-speed rail will connect the mega-regions of the state, contribute to economic development and a cleaner environment, create jobs and preserve agricultural and protected lands. By 2029, the system will run from San Francisco to the Los Angeles basin in under three hours at speeds capable of over 200 miles per hour. The system will eventually extend to Sacramento and San Diego, totaling 800 miles with up to 24 stations. In addition, the Authority is working with regional partners to implement a state-wide rail modernization plan that will invest billions of dollars in local and regional rail lines to meet the state’s 21st century transportation needs.

Happy #LaborDay weekend! #FactFriday - Did you know the Authority has a Community Benefits Agreement and Policy guiding our construction labor employment? So far, thanks to the agreement, the project has created more than 13,900 jobs! Signed over a decade ago in 2013, it's designed to assist small businesses and job seekers in finding construction contracts, jobs, and training opportunities for residents who live in economically-disadvantaged areas, and those designated as "disadvantaged workers", including veterans. We are working on some of the most impactful high-speed rail routes around the world. In California, we’re delivering sustainability services for a new high-speed rail line, an 800km+ route from Los Angeles to San Francisco which is one of busiest short haul flight paths in the USA. Our scope of work includes renewable energy modelling, climate adaptation, sustainable design, managing emissions, carbon offsetting, and sustainability reporting. The line will run on 100% renewable energy, drawing on 35 MW of solar panels and 140 MWh of battery storage. In this #WonkWednesday, we dive into the nitty gritty of the environmental clearance process required by state and federal law before we can begin construction. As of June 2024, we’ve cleared from downtown San Francisco to downtown Los Angeles, with only Los Angeles to Anaheim remaining. https://lnkd.in/gAB-ufxB
