Countdown to #CAWG50 – In 2010, CAWG prioritized enhancing its communications efforts. The organization embarked on a statewide tour, hosting a series of grape grower town hall meetings in Lodi, Paso Robles, Monterey, Temecula, Madera, and Lake County to engage directly with its members. Additionally, CAWG revamped its monthly print newsletter, The Crush, and introduced the CAWG eNews, a weekly email update for members. Each week, CAWG will share history, memories, and showcase the many people who have shaped CAWG's journey as we countdown to the November 21 celebration. Special thank you to Vineyard Select Sponsor, Suisun Valley Vintners and Growers Association, for supporting CAWG’s 50th celebration anniversary! #CAWG50 #WinegrapeGrowers #DrinkCAWine Sponsorship opportunities, tickets, and more information can be found here: https://bit.ly/3VwyFaB

CAWG President, Natalie Collins, talked to KCRA 3 & My58 Television about the state of the California wine industry. "Larger wineries are importing foreign bulk wine. These wineries can bring it here for much cheaper than we can grow it for today. Our growers continue to rise and meet the social, economic, and environmental standards that are set for them, but those same policies and standards are making us uncompetitive on a global scale," Collins said. https://lnkd.in/gFWZkf3A

Countdown to #CAWG50 – During Rodney Schatz's tenure as CAWG Chair (2005-2007), he and then-President Karen Ross envisioned CAWG playing a key role in promoting California wine. With strong support from the Board and generous financial contributions from members, CAWG launched the "California Winegrowers Promotion Program" in 2006. This initiative featured collaborative events with the Wine Institute, regional associations, and activities in major cities like New York and Washington D.C. Notable highlights include appearances by growers and vintners on the Today Show in September 2009 to celebrate California Wine Month. The program successfully boosted media and consumer impressions of California's winegrape growers and California wine. 2024 marks the 20th celebration of #CaliforniaWineMonth. Each week, CAWG will share history, memories, and showcase the many people who have shaped CAWG's journey as we countdown to the November 21 celebration.
